James "Jimmy" Iwao Shimada
"Stay positive man"
Thank you for your service
James served in the armed forces. We honor that service here.
Our beloved James "Jimmy" lived a long life from October 23, 1926 to October 10, 2023. Jimmy was a wonderful father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend who has touched the lives of those around him. He leaves behind Sayoko, his longtime wife, Jeffrey, his eldest son, Mitchell, his middle child, Alvin, his youngest, and his grandchildren: Mick, Sydni, and Evan, his beloved grandson who cared and stayed with him until his very last moments.
Jimmy was in the Japanese Internment Camp at Tule Lake from 1942-1946, served in the army, and dedicated his life to farming where he spent 54 years of his life growing tomatoes for Campbell Soup Company. Most importantly, he cherished his long 97 years living for his most prized possession, his family. He was a man of few words, but his smile and laugh could light up any room. He'll never be forgotten and he'll continue to live on through all of his loved ones.
