Life story

Margaret Mary Murphy Welsh. For the past 86 years this sweet and sassy lass has been so many things to so many people. Devoted Daughter to William and Bridey, big Sister to Billy who I am sure benefited from years of sisterly advice and wisdom. Friend to many from Queens New York to Paoli PA. Loving and faithful Wife of 61 years to Edward, who this week still referred to her "as one damn fine looking women" and from my perspective, most passionately, Mother. Peggy gave birth to 6 very unique and amazing children all of whom have grown to become independent, strong, faithful and loving adults.

25 years ago I had the great honor of marrying into this incredible family. It did not take long for me to realize that Peggy was the heart and soul of this body. She held everyone's attention with stories and advice and entertained us all with music and song. She was always encouraging and yes, opinionated. And as an equally opinionated person I have to admit her opinion was usually right.

Grandmother is also a mantle Peggy embraced with love and generosity. She cared for, supported, praised, prayed for, and loved 17 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. There is a piece of Peggy in all of us. Her pearls of wisdom have been linked to create a lasting strand. Those who knew Peggy have been made better for the knowing. Those who have been loved by Peggy have felt the touch of God.

Tonight with your family gathered around you you breathed your last. I will miss you. It is now your turn to touch the face of God. Sing with the angels Peggy, dance with the reformed and watch over all of us until we meet again.
