Keeping his memory alive 🕊️
"Meet my amazing grandpa Gary “Pap pap”, a true West Virginia gem! Born and raised in Jakes Run, he cherished his childhood home ,and the love of his parents, Ruby and Ralph Tennant. With his brother Frankie by his side, they shared countless adventures together. After serving in the army, fate led him to meet the love of his life, Charlotte (my grandma) at Sterling Faucet in Sabraton. Their love was undeniable, and they wasted no time tying the knot at the courthouse.
As a loving father, Gary welcomed his first-born daughter, Melissa, into the world. She brought so much joy and laughter to their lives. Years later, they were blessed with the arrival of Miranda, completing their beautiful family. My grandpa cherished every moment spent with his daughters, creating precious memories that they still hold dear to this day.
Even as they grew up and started their own lives, Gary continued to be a pillar of support. He provided them with love, guidance, and everything they needed to thrive. His dedication as a father never wavered, and his love for his daughters knew no bounds.
It's truly inspiring to see the bond that he shared with his daughters They were lucky to have such a caring and devoted father. His legacy of love and provision will forever be a part of their lives."
As a dedicated provider, Gary worked in the Consol coal mines until they laid him off. But he never let that dampen his spirit. He found solace and joy in his garden, tending to his flowerbeds and basking in the sun. I'll always remember the rides he took us grandkids on with his trusty John Deere, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
He loved us grandkids so much. We were his pride and joy. He loved sitting out on the porch watching all of us play and grow. “Pap pap” always made sure to supply us with all of the sugar we needed before sending us home. He would give us candy, icecream, especially caprisuns.
Sports were a big part of his life too. Cheering on the Mountaineers during football and basketball games was a family tradition, especially with his grandson Michael. And when the winter chill set in, he would cozy up with his wife Charlotte “mammy”, watching westerns, munching on popcorn, and keeping warm by the fire in their buck stove.
My grandpa Gary’s love, strength, and zest for life have left an indelible mark on all of us. He was a true family man, a nature enthusiast, and a proud Mountaineer. His legacy will forever live on in our hearts.
