James Joseph Gagliardi
James Joseph Gagliardi, 59, passed away, Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO surrounded by his family, following a hard fought battle with COVID-19. He was preceded in death by his father Frank, mother LaVerne, and brother Jack. He leaves behind his wife of 34 years, Diane (Shawcroft); his children Drew and Kayla; sister Lori; and numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
He was born on January 25, 1962 in Trinidad, CO. He graduated from Trinidad Catholic in 1980 and enrolled at CSU. He returned to Trinidad and in 1983, began his employment with the United States Postal Service. During his career with USPS, Jim held numerous titles in a variety of post offices throughout Southern CO and Northern NM. While on a temporary assignment in La Jara, CO, he met Diane and the two were wed on May 23, 1987. Jim retired from USPS in November 2020 and was currently working part time as a transit driver for COG transportation.
Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, golfing, watching and attending sporting events, going on family vacations, and spending time with family and friends. Jim was an avid Notre Dame football fan and one of his most cherished moments was attending the 1995 Fiesta Bowl from the sidelines.
He was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Church. Jim was an honest and generous friend and neighbor and was always willing to lend a hand to those near and far.
