Life story

An amazing father, husband, and Grandpa. Always brought a smile to others faces. If you found someone he didn’t tease, you found someone he didn’t like.

All of his grandchildren called him Papaw! He loved to take them to McDonald’s to get Hotcakes for breakfast!

He was very involved at his church. He was on the security team and he always helped with VBS and other events that happened at the church.

He was loved by so many and he will never be forgotten!

My Papaw & My Best-friend

My Papaw started babysitting me when I was very little. We’ve had such a special bond ever since. He was my favorite person to talk to and hear stories from. I love and miss you so much Papaw!

Miss you Jerry!

I’m sure most of you know my favorite story about Jerry! One day when I was a teenager I was mad at my parents about something (imagine that)! Jerry was outside and I went out thinking I would take a short walk to cool off. I decided to talk to Jerry about my troubles and a short walk turned into a run all over the town of Oolitic! Needless to say I was so tired by the time we got back I wasn’t mad anymore…. I have so many memories of Jerry, with my family living next door to Jerry and Linda from the time I was little!!! He and Linda were like second parents to me! Sure do miss him….. ❤️

Jerry, my bonus dad!

I have many wonderful memories of Jerry, here are just a few: 1. I spent many Saturday evenings at the Nikirk house growing up and I remember Jerry would be going over his Sunday School lesson for the next morning. Many times, his lessons would include advice, and he would always say, "That's from the book of Jerry." 2. Jerry always wanted everyone he was around to feel important and included. I was at his house one time when they were hosting a Christmas party, that I wasn't really a part of. It may have been a Sunday School party, or extended family party, but Jerry had bought several dozen small crock-pots to hand out as gifts to everyone there, even the "extras" like me. Needless to say I went home with a crock-pot that night. I had a friend that borrowed that little crock-pot just a couple of weeks ago. When I handed it to her I told her this story and it made me smile remembering Jerry and how he made everyone feel included. 3. One of the last, and most special Jerry moments came when my husband and I moved into our current home. We wanted to pull up the carpet and put in new floors in the main level. Seth agreed to lay the floors and Jerry was his cut man. He set up in our garage and cut every single board that was needed. He took extra time to get as many pieces out of each board as he could, to save us money. The floors turned out lovely, and I feel very fortunate to have Jerry's handiwork in my home! Love you and miss you Jerry!
