Life story

Vernica Hyacinth Williams was born on Thursday November 23rd, 1944 in Mandeville , Jamaica, to her parents Lillian "Lilly" Keturah Williams and Sydney "Dash" Williams. She had three siblings, two brothers, Hensley and Russell Williams, and her sister Jennifer Williams. Vernica was the (3rd child?). Growing up in Mandeville Vernica would speak of happy times with her siblings and her parents.

Though she was happy in Jamaica and gave birth to her first 2 son's, Radcliffe (Dean?) Nembhard, and Dwight Wayne Haughton (who is at rests here alongside her) Vernica knew that she was destined for more, and in (year) she made the brave decision to immigrate to a brand new country and begin life anew...alone, in a foreign land that she would eventually come to call home and plant new roots in, Canada.

Vernica worked very hard for (?) years. She was able to establish herself, and then send for her beloved son's to join her.

A single-mother, Vernica worked to no end to provide for her children. She was always thinking of her next steps to elevate herself and her children. Everything she always did was for them.

Though Vernica contracted Covid in late 2020 (?), being the strong woman that she was she beat it. Unfortunately, months after she beat Covid, even though she had never smoked a day in her life, she somehow was diagnosed with stage 4 lung-cancer. Although doctors gave her a year to live, God called her home roughly within 6mths of her being diagnosed.

Vernica being who she was, one to always put others first, kept the diagnosis from her grandchildren, coworker, and friends, not wanting others to worry about her. A decision that her daughter will forever regret.

While in the hospital nurses expressed how Vernica always proudly, and lovingly spoke of her children whlle sharing pictures of them, her grandchildren , and great-grandchildren. "I feel like a member of the family" one nurse said "...she talks about you guys all the time..." shared another.

Vernica lived a life of service, happily and proudly. Serving and helping others was her passion. She always said if she won the lottery she would build a shelter for the homeless. That's just the kind of ❤️ she had.

Although she experienced many losses over the years, Vernica always had a smile and would consistently show up as her own hero. (She always found her way, and weathered the storms life sent hr way.)

Things learned from my mother:

* Crying and stressing does not solve problems, thinking them through does.

* Always walk with your head up high.

* Revenge is never the answer, karma is.

* Smile. Dance. Pray. Forgive, and let go.

Words she always said to me "You gotta work through the pain".
