William David Saylor
“What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived the things God has prepared for those who love him” 1 Corinthians 2:9
David was born April 1, 1936, in Rockcastle County, KY to Willie and Ada Saylor. He was the youngest of seven children. He went to Brodhead High School in Kentucky, class of 1954. On December 21st, 1957 David married the love of his life Vessie (Jones) Saylor. Together they have two daughters, Rebecca Nelson (Tim) and Alva Wright (Dave). David has 7 grandchildren, David Nelson (Lisa), Tim Nelson (Kristen), Matthew Nelson, Tristan Wright, Sarah Droulias (Josh), Evan Wright, and Kelsey Tiley (Austin). He also has 6 great-grandchildren, Shawn, Ella, Drew, Lucy, Jake & Caroline.
David was a founding member of the Christian Life Center where he has spent nearly 50 years serving his church family. David’s true passion was spending time with family. He was a model father, grandfather, and great grandfather. With the help of his entire family and friends, he was able to build Vessie her dream home in Brookville by hand. David also had a passion for raising and riding his beloved Tennessee Walking Horses. He raised and shown many horses. At one point in time he has more horses than he had horse stalls and had to build two more stalls onto the back of his barn. He enjoyed baking and made the most amazing biscuits you would ever taste. He worked at many jobs throughout the years. He opened a gluten free bakery called Bread for Life when one of his grandchildren was diagnosed with Celiac disease where he created recipes for all kinds of delicious gluten free breads and baked goods. David was a man who never knew a stranger, made friends wherever he went, and shared his faith with all. Many found that spending the day working with David on his farm was more than just a normal day working on a farm. It was also a day fellowship and guidance. He would want you all to find Christ’s love and seek his forgiveness.
