Life story

Rebecca “Becky” Warren Davis “Mama Bec,” 76, of Burlington passed away peacefully at her residence on Thursday, August 18, 2022.

A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Joe Ray Davis “Papa Joe” and the daughter of the late Earl Warren and the late Myrtle Oakley Warren. She was a graduate of Williams High School (1965) and was a retired employee of AKG.

Mama Bec loved her family, she was the center piece of her family. All that knew her, loved her and called her Mama Bec, not Becky. Some of her favorite things were planting flowers in the spring time, visiting the beach and she was the queen of shagging. If you knew Mama Bec she only wore Polo and Birkenstocks.

Mama Bec is survived by her daughter, Tracy Jordon (Todd); son, Jimmy Lewis (Jeni); grandchildren, Brittany Schafer (Jonas), Brooke Gordon (Loy Stone), Blake Lewis (Nicole) and Blaire Lewis; great-grandchildren, Avery, Oliver, Braxton, Savvy and Jax; sisters, Shirley Pickard and Sandy Pulley; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Jamie Dee Lewis and sister, Jo Jenkins.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington. At other times, the family will be at her residence.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington.

Brooke speech at funeral

If anyone knew my mama bec knew she loved to joke around. You’d ask her what have you been up to & she’d say “oh that’s none of your business” or “ I had a sexy date”. Me & my mom took the kids over before she left for Germany & we had the best time. She kept saying when are y’all going to leave, these kids are tearing my house up & we joked & said we were leaving them there with her & she smiled & said I don’t think so. She loveddd to talk & tell you all about her childhood & just story after story. You might’ve heard the same story a few times & her little da da da da saying but you just smiled & listened because she found so much joy reliving her childhood. She was the best. Always there for you, always happy, joyful, & the polo, chicken salad & shagging queen. She loved our family with everything she had especially those great grand kids, she went from having 0 to 5 in 3 years & she was just smitten. I will miss the random calls of her telling me what she saw on shark tank & thinks I need it or just calling to talk & check in. We just talked last Saturday & she was telling me how proud she was of me for always standing up & being there for my mama & that just makes me smile, i will take great care of her. I was blessed with the 2 best grandmas in the world & now they’re both rejoicing in heaven with Jamie & all their other loved ones & I find so much comfort in that. I will miss you until I see you again mama bec may your light shine down on us until that day comes & I love you so much. & Thank you everyone for the love, thoughts, prayers & everything in between me & my family really appreciate it!
