Shayne Allen Sutherland Sr.
“Let me hear your war cry!”
Shayne Allen Sutherland Sr. was born on October 18, 1990. Shayne was a loving child with a big heart and he always had a lot of friends and people that loved to be around him. As an adult, Shayne worked as a journeyman for the glaziers and glassworkers union Local 169. Shayne also went to Alaska and did commercial Salmon fishing. Shayne was a father of 2 children, Shayne jr and Demetria. Shayne was a coach for the Manteca Chargers, a youth football team that his children now play for. The kids on the team loved Shayne and they still keep his legacy going by shouting out his chant “Let me hear your war cry!” The Manteca Chargers still honor Shayne at every home game by putting a banner with his picture up on the field.
On October 8, 2020, Shayne was killed by 2 Stockton Police Officers by restraint asphyxiation. Shayne was complying and was on the ground with his hands cuffed behind his back. Shayne wasn’t a threat to anyone. The 2 Stockton Police officers, Ron Zalunardo and John Afanasiev were not held accountable and are still working for the Stockton PD even after numerous protests and rallies and demands for accountability were made, the District Attorney failed to file charges and they got away with murdering Shayne. There is a Linktree account that has news interviews, articles, and the devastating videos of Shayne’s case. You can see that here https://linktr.ee/JusticeForShayneSutherland
