Alexis “Alex” Christina Taylor
“I fly with the stars in the sky, I am no longer trying to survive, I believe that life is a prize but to LIVE doesn’t mean your alive” Nicki Minaj
Alexis “Alex” Taylor was born June 2 to Maurissa and Christopher. She is the middle child to her mother, and the oldest child of her father. She has 3 sisters; Alyna, Amelia, and Aliyah and a baby brother CJ.
She was head strong, focused, and full of love. This resonated in everything she did. She was a fierce friend, daughter, and sister! She never minded telling you what you didn’t want to hear! 😂 She loved Lacrosse, Disney Movies, school, and Nicki Minaj! She was an intense competitor whether it was playing Lacrosse, Spades, or Uno! If you know, you know! Alexis was a member of the Woodland HS Lacrosse team. She won MVP and was the leading scorer of her team for 3 consecutive years. Her competitiveness and skill provided her a full scholarship to play Lacrosse at Reinhardt University in Canton, Ga where she was given the nickname “Rocket.” She wore the #11 in both high school and college. Her college jersey was retired by her Coach Roy Reynolds in honor of her fight.
She was a Biology major with the dream of becoming an OB/GYN. During her time at Reinhardt, Alexis developed symptoms that impacted her playing. Upon taking her to get checked out, it was discovered she had a rare brain cancer called, DIPG. Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma is an inoperable tumor in the brain stem. It robs you of your ability to talk, swallow, balance, and breath. The diagnosis was terminal with just 9 months to live. In true Alexis spirit, she lived for 20 months! She remained on the deans list during her entire battle until she could no longer write.
Alexis won her battle with DIPG on September 30, 2019. Her life impacted all who knew her. She had amazing friends and family who loved her and gave her the most beautiful life.
We will all, always be, 11STRONG!
