Kassler Wayne Padgett

Lived 16 years

The best measure of a life well lived has less to do with number of years we live or by our accomplishments, but more to do with how other lives were lovingly touched by our presence.
Life story

Kassler Wayne Padgett, age 16, of Huffman, Texas, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2022. Kassler was born September 21, 2005, in the midst of Hurricane Rita, in Houston, Texas, to Kimberly Carol and Kyle Wayne Padgett.

Kassler attended all Huffman schools and was currently a sophomore at Huffman Hargrave High School. Kass was a pitcher for the Falcon JV baseball team his freshman and sophomore years. He had also been on the Hargrave fishing team his freshman year. Kassler had been a member of the FFA and raised chickens in his middle school years to sell at auction. In his elementary years, he participated and won in UIL spelling from 2nd to 4th grade.

Kassler's greatest passions were hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He definitely had patience and optimism when it came to fishing, with some of his favorite places to fish being at his Uncle Mical's, the Read's ponds in Buffalo, Texas, and the canals in the neighborhood with his buddies. He killed his first deer when he was ago 13 at Mr. Coy's deer camp. This was such a special day for Father and son. He also just enjoyed riding around and cuttin' up on the 4-wheeler. Kass spent a lot of time playing video games with his friends and cousins as well. He taught himself how to cook and enjoyed frying up some bacon and deer steak for his family. Kassler loved his puppy dogs and enjoyed playing with them.

Kassler, Kass, "Our Bubba", was whitty and charming with a great sense of humor, and just made everything more fun. He was so confident and intelligent, so challenging that he probably would've been a great attorney. He could defend until we almost believed his nonsense. He was that good.

Dearest Kass,

You buzzed into our lives like a busy bee at 5 years old in 2010. Our days were hectic and in a constant whirlwind of activities. I had no idea you’d eventually become a bonus son to me. God knew exactly what he was doing though. The relationship between you and Dylan absolutely warmed (and still does) my heart. You truly were/are his brother. For years you two were inseparable. Baseball, football, basketball, karate, school activities, and camps, kept all of us on the go so that the two of you could experience what life had to offer. You also spent vacations, holidays, and roadtrips with our family making priceless memories. I’m so very thankful for social media as it’s a great memoir of most of our times together. Oh, and I forgot to mention fishing & video games. The two things that became y’all’s favorite pastimes, mostly into the wee hours of the nights/mornings. To this day, Dylan’s X-Box still has your gaming profile. When I walked in and saw “Bacon Grease” on his screen, my eyes filled with tears. As for fishing…..where do I begin? The amount of time you 2 spent together fishing, planning to fish, thinking about when & where you’d go, sneaking onto random property, picking the perfect lures, comparing catches, aligning your alibis, and who knows what else? I only wish I had videos and a bird’s eye view. Oh, the conversations! I can only imagine some of those. I’m beyond grateful y’all had the opportunity to bond this way and pray you’ll always be watching over Dylan when he’s on the water. Kassler, I envisioned that at this point in your lives, the two of you would be running around finding all sorts of teenage trouble to get into. I often told your mom that I appreciated your determined, fearless, confidence. You were the perfect balance for Dylan. I could just imagine some of the fiascos you’d find yourselves in and the creative ways you’d get out of them, together. I could go on forever sharing all the times we shared and how much you mean to our family. You truly were/are one of our kids. We are so very thankful to have the memories and are blessed that one day we’ll see you in Heaven. Our God assures us of that. In our final moment with you, you once again buzzed through our lives. I’ll never forget the sight, sound, or feeling, and will cherish it whenever I see a bee. Kassler Wayne, every single time you left my house, I told you I loved you. I still do and always will. I sincerely HOPE you know it. Sincerely, “Ms. Michelle”
