Gamliel's Eulogy

Gamliel’s eulogy 🪬It’s a year shy today, Sunday November 19, 2023 when family and friends stand together to pay continued respect to our “Gamliel”. Rabbi Iszhak of west hills Torah center spoke emotionally about him and captured his beautiful essence. It wasn’t long ago, February 21, 2023 when the creator of the world decided to bring him close to him in the heavens. 🪬 Weare just left selfishly wanting his presence in this world to fill our void in our hearts and now just a tombstone proudly standing tall describing the many roles he mastered in his book of life. 🪬We look around and see the beautiful faces starting with beloved wife Rochelle, who adored him, called him the love of her life, her rock, shared a life of blessings, challenges and through it all they always managed to dance and laugh heartily; the faces of his children , each had their own special bond and the sadness in their eyes, I pray that will lessen; his extended family and friends are still processing that “G” is not with us anymore. 🪬Our love and admiration for this man is strong and fierce and things will never be the same. We say time heals but sometimes it doesn’t, it just forces us all to manage because there is no other choice. 🪬We don’t understand G’D’s ways, we don’t question G’D’s ways because the answer is the same but we need to trust G’D and trust, we must! 🪬He met his creator after being with his family in Atlanta getting the honor to be in the synagogue for the baby naming of his first grandchild, a beautiful girl named Mila. 🪬We don’t understand G’D’s ways, we don’t question G’D’s ways because the answer is the same but we need to trust G’D and trust we must! 🙏Here, we are today at his resting place with his new grandson who fought to be present here today honoring the name he now has, David Gamliel. 🪬We don’t understand G’D’s ways, we don’t question G’D’s ways because the answer is the same but we need to trust G’D and trust we must! 🪬Our Gamliel was a humble man, a rare one. Humility didn’t mean he thought less of himself, it meant he thought of himself less because he pursued the needs of others at all costs and all he needed were wings to get there faster to help. He lived everyday with the mindset that is all good even though it wasn’t. , in love with his family, a sense of humor to brighten someone’s day, only the best stories between him and Rochelle, the music video dancing like no one’s business, his weekly poker playing with his best friends, cooking demos with his children, driving with a flat tire, flashing lights, bumper dragging, all the while smiling cause the sun is shining. 🧿Two quotes come to mind as I’m writing this. ❤️We are a spiritual being living a physical experience and 🪬There is one G’D and two worlds. 🪬As people, we grow and change everyday to strive to be better than the day before for the people in our lives and work hard to achieve what is in our personal bucket list. 🪬Our body just houses the soul. The body stays here and the soul is alive and doing better there than it was here. 🙏When we leave this world, now what? How do we still honor the ones that leave us, too soon? 🪬There is no death in Judaism. I learned that after losing my brother and father. It’s comforting actually. The soul also needs to move forward and grow and that is up to us. How? When we say Kaddish, give charity, when we donate prayer books, kissing the mezuzah, learning Torah…or simply doing a nice deed by paying for a cup Of coffee for the person behind us on line all in memory of Gamliel, that’s how we do it! It’s timeless. 🪬This world is the hallway to the ultimate world of truth and eternity. 🪬Gamliel is very much alive with us. I know that because how does an angel like him leave without a trace, he didn’t. He continues to live in our hearts and the lives of his children and grandchildren who will continue to honor him with their love of one another, for the respect they have for their mother, his beautiful wife Rochelle and for the rest of us, we will continue on our journey of life striving to be the best people we can be because we were blessed to have Gamliel to show us exactly how it’s done 🪬May your soul continue to be elevated our “Gamliel” as we continue to love you, honor you, use your lessons to roll up our sleeves to help our families and friends anytime and to watch your family grow up in the heavens. 🪬We don’t understand G’D’s ways, we don’t question G’D’s ways because the answer is the same but we need to trust G’D and trust we must! I strongly believe that Gamliel agrees because he trusted G’D unconditionally. BDE —Odette
