Good people pass away; the godly often die before their time. But no one seems to care or wonder why. No one seems to understand that God is protecting them from the evil to come. For those who follow godly paths will rest in peace when they die. Isaiah 57:1-2 NLT
Life story

Heaven became much more beautiful on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, when Kenleigh Paige Janeway joined Jesus at the age of 18 years, 6 months, and 22 days. To know Kenleigh was to love her – she had this very special way of making every single person she met feel like they were the most special person in her life, and she was her Mama’s very best friend in this world. Ken loved BIG, she loved to laugh, and she especially loved making others laugh – it brought her almost joy as it did to everyone around her. Visitation for Kenleigh will be Friday, March 31st from 6:00pm – 8:00pm and Saturday, April 1st from 11:30am – 1:30pm at Midway Baptist Church and a celebration of her life will follow at 2:00pm at Midway with burial to follow at Coahoma Cemetery. In honor of KP and her bright spirit, the family asks for everyone that can to wear her favorite colors - pink or black.

Kenleigh was born on August 27, 2004, in Paris, Texas, and immediately began her journey of wrapping every single person she came in contact with around her perfect little fingers. She was born to two parents but being the only child in a large group of friends, she quickly became everyone’s boss. At 4, she began her love of softball, and as she grew, eventually volleyball. She made lifelong friends while playing sports that she still loved very much today. There was not a year that KP played Dixie ball that she wasn’t selected for the All-Star team. She always put 110% into everything she did, and sports were no exception. Ken was fiercely competitive – if she showed up to play, she showed up to win. Also, very early on, she had an incredible love for animals - big or small.

In 2018, she relocated to Coahoma and began attending Coahoma High School where she remained active in both softball and volleyball – and where she met the love of her life, Logan Saverance. Like most kids do, they had a couple of bumps in the road, but after a short break their Junior year, they found their way back to each other and have been inseparable ever since.

About halfway through high school, she and Bro. Mike Seay had a few “come to Jesus” sessions, and Jesus prevailed. Kenleigh immediately accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and the rest was history. She then became very influential with her high school friends and persuaded many of them to join her Sunday mornings at church.

She graduated from CHS in May 2022, and began working as a CNA, however, she was needed more at home, so in August 2022, she became the full-time primary caregiver for her Nana, because in her mind, nobody could take as good of care of Nana as she could. During Christmas time 2022, and after many not-so-subtle hints from Ken, Logan proposed and they became engaged. When she wasn’t taking care of Nana, she loved spending time with Logan and their friends, and her animals – even the family frenchies. She and Logan shared their dog, Diesel, and while her Mama was out of town on a work trip, she found a little kitten, Millie, in the middle of the road in the rain and talked Lanny into keeping it too. Finally, for her 18th birthday, and after much convincing, she got her goldendoodle, Stella – because who could ever tell her no?

During her final, and most selfless act of her lifetime here on this earth, Kenleigh made the choice in 2019 to become an organ donor. Through this incredible, heroic act, five families were given another chance at life. Our sweet girl’s legacy will live on through these five strangers, and the many lives that they will touch. Ken will forever be our hero.

Kenleigh is survived by her fiancé, Logan Saverance. Her parents, Kara and Lanny Vines, and her father Chris Janeway. Grandparents, Kim (Mimi) and Barry (Poppy) Janeway, and Becky (Granny) and Jody (Pop) Vines. Great-grandparents, Rebecca (Nana) Gough, and Debbie (Grandma) and Bill (Pawpaw) Janeway. Four sisters, Shelby (Eli) Cruz, Taylor (Yeyo) Montes, Chloe Vines, and Cheyenne (Kris) Morgan, and one brother, Jayden Kinsey. Uncles and aunts include Jeremy (Danci) Slagle, Morgan (Matt) Greer, Jeri Kay Johnson (Rhett Powell), Kathy (Ross) Ward, Leanna (Andrew) Dutchover, Kelly (Stacy) Burdette, Casey Vines (Cedric Rue), Linda (Steve) Young, and Stephanie (Robert) Nero. Nieces and nephews include Alaina, Olivia, Eliana, Sophia, Paisley, Leon, and Greyson. She was also very blessed with Logan’s family who loved her like their own, a host of cousins, very close friends, and her church family, including her most special friend, Brother Mike Seay and his family.

Preceding her in death was her grandparents, Keith Lancaster and Karen Lamberson, and great grandparents, Kenneth and Shirley Lancaster.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Slagle, Landyn Saverance, Isaac (Chav) Chavarria, Dillon Walker, Trenton Clark, Colter Hutchings, Nathan Letz, Kolton Kunkel. Honorary pallbearers will be Jodie Ann Esquibel, Brylee Saverance, Jaeli Hernandez, Brylie Webster, Cody Seay, Trenton Crenshaw, Dusty Pegg, Chris Turner, Brent Brown, JR Sweat, Blake Williams, and Tracy Watkins.

Special thanks from her family goes out to our wonderful Midway Baptist family, the entire team from Life Gift, Big Spring Fire and Rescue, Scenic Mountain Emergency Room Staff, Air Evac flight crew, and especially the amazing staff of the UMC MICU.
