Elaine Ruth Muzny
Elaine Jakubik Muzny was born on November 5, 1947, in Bryan, Texas, to Ernest Rudolph Jakubik and Olga Emilie “Ollie” (Shenkir) Jakubik. She grew up surrounded by family and community, values that stayed with her throughout her life. On August 20, 1966, she married James J. “Jim” Muzny, and together they built a life centered on faith, family, and working side by side.
Elaine worked for 15 years at the ASCS office in Caldwell and remained deeply connected to her church, St. Joseph’s Parish in Dime Box, where she was also a member of the altar society. Caring for others came naturally to her. She opened her home as a foster mother and devoted herself to supporting her children and grandchildren in every way she could.
She loved the simple joys of life—gardening, quilting, canning, and cooking big Sunday dinners that brought everyone together. Elaine was famous for her homemade pickles and took pride in sharing them with friends and family. She enjoyed working on the farm with Jim, watching Jim and their son John rope at Circle Z Arena, and helping with countless fair projects over the years. Fishing trips with the kids and grandkids, often paired with a cold drink and plenty of laughter, were among her favorite memories.
Elaine was always involved in her community. She served as a Cub Scout den mother, was a member of Snook SPJST and the Deanville Volunteer Fire Department, and enjoyed traveling whenever she had the chance. A lifelong sports fan, she especially loved watching women’s basketball—a passion that started when she played on the Snook Blue Jay basketball team in high school.
Family meant everything to Elaine. She shared her life with her husband Jim, their children John and Kathy Muzny, Jason and Jessica Muzny, and Hollie and Shawn Jennings, all of Deanville. She was a proud grandmother to LeAnn Jennings, Emily Jennings, Madyson Muzny, Weston Muzny, and John Wesley “JW” Muzny, and she remained closely connected to her siblings Carlson Jakubik; Lyndon and Maude Linda Jakubik; and Bernice and Tommy Junek, along with many extended family members and lifelong friends.
Elaine’s story is one of love, service, and the quiet strength found in caring for others—something she did every day, in ways both big and small.
