Life story

Daniel Moss, age 39, of Hayesville, NC passed away Sunday, February 25, 2024 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

He was a native of Clay County, NC. He is survived by his mother, Barbara Moss and the late Carroll Moss.

Daniel Moss left this world with a legacy to be proud of. For everyone that knew him, our lives are better because of our time with him. He was a solid and steadfast man. Daniel was lighthearted and funny. He was always quick with a joke and the first to try to make someone laugh. Daniel had a laugh that if you heard it once, you would never forget it as it was big and boisterous and sometimes with a "whew hoo" threw in for good measure. He grew up in a loving family with solid roots. Daniel found faith in God. Those things, God and family, would anchor his life. He grew up surrounded by his brother, his sister and countless cousins who could share countless stories about his antics and jokes. The mischievous boy who would ride in the front seat of the bus his mom drove because he was acting up, again. All of these stories are Daniel Moss.

He grew up and he stayed the same crazy soul who would make you laugh, played music for the Lord and began to work with the youth ministry. Daniel dreamed of a family of his own and he found that in his wife, Kendra and daughter, Kenley. Little did he know when they met, that the blessings would keep on going and they added three more to the tribe. Proud would be an understatement due to what kind of husband and father he was. His dream was a reality and he loved them with all he had. God knew exactly what he was doing when Daniel Moss was born into this world and the people that would cross his path. Daniel left a legacy of family, of love, of faith and countless friendships with kids whose lives have been shown a path to God and faith because he cared.

Daniel enjoyed playing his electric and acoustic guitar at church and at home. He also enjoyed being a Youth Leader and watching the kids get closer with God. Daniel and his brother Derek Moss also owned their own business call Mountain Lawnscapes where they did construction and lawn care.

He is survived by his wife, Kendra Hensley Moss of Sylva, NC; three daughters, Kenley Hensley, Kadence Moss and Karoline “Kyky” Moss of Hayesville, NC; one son, Kendrix Moss of Hayesville, NC; one brother, Derek Moss of Hayesville, NC; one sister, Cheyenne Moss Whitlow and her husband Jonathan Whitlow Hayesville, NC; and three nieces, Autumn Whitlow, Aubrey Whitlow, and Ava Whitlow of Hayesville, NC.

A funeral service will be held 2pm on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Catalyst Church in Hayesville with Rev. Brandon Matheson, Rev. Wayne Matheson and Rev. Steve Cothren officiating. Burial will be in Old Shooting Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Derek Moss, Dakota Matheson, D.J. Ricks, Chad Matheson, Jonathan Whitlow and Daniel Anderson. Honorary pallbearers are Kendrix Moss, Heath Henderson, Thomas Kitchel and Fenris Ulfhamr .

The family will receive friends from 12pm to 2pm on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Catalyst Church in Hayesville prior to the funeral service.

Day after Christmas

We miss you something terrible. Holidays are definitely not the same ever again. But as long as I'm breathing air, I'm gonna stand in the gap for your kiddos, to make sure they are taken care of. We love you. I can't help but wander how it must have been to have been with Jesus this Christmas and what it must look like from the other side. You and Dad behave up there.

Is this a bad dream?

I wish I could wake up and this all be just a bad dream. The world just isn't the same without you Daniel. Your babies are growing up so fast. You would be proud of the A team.....they told me they pray everyday and they love going to church and that is something I can thank you for is helping them instill God in their lives.

My first Mother Day without you

There is nothing like today I remember four years ago when you got down on one day in our house and propose to me and all that day and never thought four years later, I would be visiting your gravesite. I said yes four years ago today and I still say yesterday I loved you then Love you even more now my love for you will never fade it will only get stronger. The kids and I come back to see you today but poor little buppy and Karoline could not hang They fell asleep from church to the graveyard or the “gravy yard” is Kadence calls it we miss you so much and today has been hard. I hope I honored your mom and the way you would want her to be honored today. I cannot wait for the day that I meet you at Evans Gates the day that I never have to say goodbye to you again the day that we can forever be together I miss you so much with every passing day. It gets harder down here, but I know with every passing day, one step closer to you.

Missing you something terrible

Thursday ( 4/25/24) will be 2 months since you left this world. It has definitely not been easy. I have the most realistic dreams of us just sitting and having a conversation....I don't remember the conversation but when I wake up my heart breaks all over again. I'd give anything to have one more long conversation with you. I hope your in heaven looking down smiling at us. We are doing our best down here on this place called earth. I'm pretty jealous of you actually..... you're up their rejoicing with all our loved ones that's gone before us. I keep playing your song you wrote over and over in my head bc I really need God to speak to me and let me know he's in control. I need God to help me through this extremely hard time I am having. I miss every little short joke you'd Crack at me every chance you got. Daniel Moss I miss you so much and I can't wait to see you and Dad again!
