Brayden Drake Cross
Remembered not only for his life, but for his light
Brayden Drake Cross (1995–2024)
Beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend.
Brayden was a gentle soul with a brilliant mind and a heart full of love. Born in Altus, Oklahoma on Thanksgiving week, his mama’s “butterball baby,” he grew into a young man known for his sharp wit, quiet kindness, and the unique way he saw the world. Diagnosed with high functioning autism at a young age, Brayden never let labels define him. He used his gifts to bring joy, insight, and laughter to everyone blessed to know him.
A true creative, Brayden loved anime, movies, philosophy, music, and E Sports. Gaming was more than a hobby. It was his passion and his community, earning him the nickname “Mario The Wizard.” At family game nights, no one ever stood a chance. His intelligence, focus, and quick thinking made him unstoppable. He was also the family’s movie critic, offering reviews that were both funny and incredibly thoughtful.
Brayden accepted Christ early in life and carried a quiet and steady faith. He found peace in simple things, especially his daily walks, where he would scroll, think, and enjoy the world around him.
If you opened a dictionary to describe him, you would find the words smart, funny, thoughtful, creative, emotional, energetic, kindhearted, fast, and simply a good young man.
On March 8, 2024, Brayden reunited with his grandparents who went before him. He leaves behind a family who loves him endlessly. His parents, Barnard Cross and Mickie Cross with her partner, Benjamin Rouse Jr. His stepmother, Tanya Cross. His brother, Brenton Cross and his wife, Jhunory Cross. His nephews, Bolton Cross and Boston Cross, the “favorite B’s” he adored.
Brayden’s spirit lives on in the memories he gave us, the laughter he brought, and the love he shared. May his light continue to shine, forever and always.
