“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes. Romans 1:16
Life story
Andy was a devoted husband of 23 years to Colene and wonderful father to Evan and Nathan. He and Colene attended every school music, 4-H, and church event for the boys. They created cherished memories of family vacations every summer, visiting nearly every national park. He was a hard worker no matter where he was. He was never one to sit by, and always found a project or task to keep himself busy. His most recent projects were getting his Grandpa Harold’s Minneapolis Moline tractor refurbished and "parade ready" and putting genealogy scrapbooks together. He worked as a lumberyard delivery driver for Farmers Cooperative Society in Sioux Center for fifteen and a half years, and for the past four years as a garbage truck driver for Brommer’s Sanitation in Sioux Center. Andy's life was a testament to the Christian values he held dear, and these were evident in how he treated others, with respect, humility, and genuine kindness. He knew no stranger. His sudden departure serves as a poignant reminder of the fragility of life and to "Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom" (Psalms 90:12) and to "Set our affection on things above." (Colossians 3:2).
Commitment, kind, easy-going, hard working, faithful loving spouse, father and churchman. Andy not only inherited a legacy from his parents, Rod and Nanci, as well as grandparents and in-laws, Gus and Sharon, he leaves a legacy for his sons and others. Gone too soon. But thanks be to God who gives us the victory! "Oh blest communion, fellowship divine, we feebly struggle, they in glory shine. Yet all are one in Thee, for all are Thine, Alleluia! Alleluia!" 677:4 Lutheran Service Book.

Andy and Colene were some of the first people we knew in Iowa. Not only did he make us feel welcome and invite us into their home and family, he treated us like old friends. He was always warm, smiling, and encouraging. His dedication to his family, love for them, and faithful witness to Christ are treasured examples for all of us. Rest in peace and rise in glory, friend.

I worked with Andy at the How-To Building Center. He was a considerate and patient co-worker and was easy to get along with. He shared stories of his wife and boys during noon lunches in the break room. He was kind to many people that interacted with him.

We always admired his kind and friendly ways ~ we saw him and his wife, Colene, at our auctions often, and appreciated his honesty and friendship.

Andy was always a joy in Bible study because he asked good questions. Questions that demonstrated he was truly interested in better understanding God’s word. He was ALWAYS a willing participant in the discussion.
