Lennick Dean Mike
A Special Poem for Lennick By: John Walters Lennick my man, you have moved on to a better land I saw the angels take you by each hand. They sang and you sang just like you did with mom you went with them and they smiled from then on. As you cane to a place in the sun, you saw your kin Most were new to you, they then you knew as you went in. All smiled and welcomed you to your home in the sky, You felt good that now you would no longer need to cry. It would only be good times and great health for now, Because you fought the good fight several times, and how? Those days of Zombies on x-box with dad are over for a while, But your little sister would need to know you went out in style. We will miss you dearly, and will even mourn for our boy, But now you go with happiness and never want for new toys. No pain or grief will bring us to understand why Tunkasila wanted you, but we have to honor his wishes no matter what we do.
Our warrior Lennick Dean Mike was vorn in Pierre, SD to Winston and Courtney Mike, on September 19, 2011. From the moment he was born, he was the most amazing child. Lennick fought his first battle with cancer at the age of 14 months, and his second battle at the age of 2. Lennick attended the Cheyenne River Headstart at the ages of 3 and 4. As it goes with many children his age, he knew it all and then some.
Lennick enjoyed a multitude of activities. He wrestled with the Eagle Butte AAU Wrestling Club for 3 years. In those 3 years he took home many different medals and trophies and was proud of every one of them. He attended kindergarten through second grade at the Cheyenne Eagle Butte School system. He loved to learn new things and take on any challenges. He was recently accepted into the Gifted and Talented program and looked forward to learning more and being challenged.
Lennick enjoyed all the simple things in life. Although his life was far too short, it was exceptionally well lived. Not a day went by that he didn't have a smirk on his face and a quick witted one liner. He was both a know-it-all and a big-hearted soul.
On February 26, 2020, Lennick became "Big Bro" to his baby sister Jeannie Faye. He helped in every aspect of her cares. He loved to feed and change her diapers (just not the poopy ones). Lennick loved to hold her while they enjoyed YouTube videos together. (Usually Mr. Beast)
In May of 2020, Lennick was diagnosed with Leukemia. Being his third battle, he was ready to fight head on. He was the bravest and the strongest. He didn't let his diagnoses define who he was.
On July 4th, Lennick was called home to be with his grandmas, grandpas, and "baby brother" Riley. He fought on heck of a fight. We will forever be grateful that Lennick chose us to be his parents. We promise to honor and cherish his memory. (he left us with alot) Mom and dad cannot wait to see your face again, huh and kiss you, and hear those smart ass remarks. But until then, sunshine, check on us and continue to give us signs. We love you 3000!
