Daniel and Nancy Eiffe
When it came to love they were the wealthiest people. They were so loved and they loved so hard. Their time on this earth was cherished being loving parents to their boys and their wives, grandparents to their grandchildren and servants to their community. Lan Dochais Gra.
Daniel was born on September 30th 1947, son of George and Eileen Eiffe. He was one of 7 children. He grew up in Rome, NY and left to serve his country after high school. He enlisted in the United States Navy where he served as a communications technician mostly stationed in Adak, Alaska in the Aleutian Islands. After returning from his service to our country Daniel worked at AT&T for nearly 31 years. After the company's demise in Syracuse, Daniel worked for Oswego County Highway Department until his retirement in 2009.
Nancy was born on April 8th, 1948 daughter of Rodney and Betty Huddleston. She grew up in Gloversville, NY. She was one of 3 children. Nancy spent most of her life as a homemaker and Mother. She was a charter member of the original West Monroe Fire Department Auxillary volunteering her time and giving back to the community. She worked briefly at area nursing homes doing what she did best, making sure others were cared for.
Daniel and Nancy met in Rome, NY where on their first date at Coal Yard Charlie’s one of their most famous stories happened. There was a fight in the bar, in an effort to protect our Mom, Dad lifted her up off the ground and set her on top of the juke box to keep her from harms way. After setting Mom down on the juke box her weight broke the glass and she was left with shards of glass in her ass. Causing her nice white jeans she was wearing to be stained with blood and resulted in a sore rump. The rest as they say… is history. ❤️
They were loving parents to David, Jason, Michael and Ryan. Proud in laws to special ladies, Dad always referred to as "the daughters I never had", Christina, Melanie, Nicole and Candice. Proud Grandparents to Delaney Eileen, Braden David, Michael Shamus, Sean George, Caitlin Ann, Erin Anne, Laila Marie, Gavin Joseph, Juliana Marie and bonus grandkids Marissa Louise and Anna Grace.
Both Dad and Mom were very involved in our community and loved nothing more than their service to the West Monroe Fire Department. They were both charter members and devoted many many years to serving the citizens in West Monroe. The fire department was their family. They developed life long relationships with some of the best people in the world right here in West Monroe; friends that were and still are family. They loved their camp in the Adirondacks and it was their little peace of heaven on earth. As you look at their headstone you can see a picture of the place they loved so much etched forever at their heads; a constant reminder to all who visit what a cabin in the woods near a river meant to them and to our family. Many stories started at that camp, stories that will last all of us our lifetimes. If you were lucky enough to know our parents then you're lucky enough.
