“Think of me as living in the hearts of those I’ve touched, for nothing loved is ever lost, and I have loved so much.”
Life story

Kaelyn Rae was born on April 19th, 2005, in Syracuse, NY. She was the talk of the hospital, being the baby born with a head full of hair with what looked like frosted tips. Kaelyn had her first seizure when she was 6 months old, however was not diagnosed with epilepsy until she was 7. Within a few months doctors diagnosed her with multiple types of seizures, one being LGS which is a medication resistant form of epilepsy. This forever changed our lives and was a daily struggle for her. Over the years her seizures increased and at times she had over 100 per day. While in middle school she had a Vagus Nerve Stimulator placed and with several medications, her seizures seemed manageable. The battery was replaced in March of 2023, and we noticed an increase in seizure active and in May, Kaelyn had the worst seizure she’s ever had. While it was traumatic for us, she thankfully had no recollection. The rest of 2023 brought many amazing experiences. Kaelyn turned 18, got her first tattoo, graduated high school, got her first job, gave blood for the first time, voted for the first time, went out of the country for the first time and went on her first cruise.

On January 11th, 2024, Kaelyn tragically passed away from a seizure.

Kaelyn known as Xero to those close to her, was the sweetest and most loving person. She loved hugging everyone (even strangers lol) and it took years for her to learn "personal space." She loved her family, animals, and people alike, anime, YouTube, music, going to concerts and video games, especially The Sims. It didn’t take much to make her happy, small things always mattered the most to her. Chinese food was her absolute fav and she was obsessed with frogs and mushrooms. If she wasn’t with her family/sisters she could be found with her best friends Autumn and Ghost, whom she was attached at the hip with.

We hope all those that loved Kaelyn can share their memories and we all can smile while reading them and for a moment ease the devastation of losing such a wonderful soul far too soon!

We’ll Never Not Remember You

And I know you're with the angels Right where you belong 'Cause you were one to us You left a legacy of love So we’ll cry 'cause it's over And smile because we had you Packed a whole lot of living Even though it ended all too soon And in time, we’ll start healing But even when we get that feeling No matter where we go or what we do We’ll never not remember you… The first time I heard this song was right around the time you left earth to become an angel, and I immediately thought of you. It’s hard to believe it’s been a whole year already. You absolutely left this earth too soon to all of us down here. But while you were here, you showed so much love, kindness, and compassion to the world around you. Thank you for sharing your beautiful soul with us. We promise to keep visiting you, talking about you, and remembering you no matter how much time passes. We miss you.

Xero❤️

Oh Xero, words can’t express how much Dan and I miss you. I think of you daily and constantly look for signs. I’ll forever cherish our time together and how much you loved myself and Dan. The other day our trip to the farmers market came up in my memories and I couldn’t help but laugh and smile to myself about how happy you were when you saw the strawberry shortcake cup. We then took a trip to Olive Garden where we demolished several baskets of bread sticks and some shrimp Alfredo. I miss you so much Xero, what I would give for one more hug or even you slapping my ass and calling me a big booty Judy ( IYKYK).

Missing My Kaelyn Rae

Kaelyn, I still can't believe it, when I received the call from Aunt Jackie telling me what happened, my heart sank and was hoping it was not true. I will never forget where I was when I got the call, I immediately turned around and headed to go meet Nana and pick her up to rush home to meet everyone, pack and drive down to Virginia. You were taken way to soon, as you had so much more to offer to the world as you overcame many obstacles that you were dealt. I think of you often and know you are in good hands with Uncle Jim "Billy" watching down on all of us and causing hell for everyone else, especially yelling our favorite line from the hangover movie "There's a fucking tiger in the bathroom". I miss you very much, we love and will never forget you, love Uncle Jon, Aunt Amanda, Makaila and Collin.

My dearest pequitas papas fritas iykyk

I still miss you every day and it doesn't get easier. It's the small things I miss the most. Your silly sneezes and funny laughs. I miss your hugs and kisses. The last one I had was an air bug and kiss because you weren't feeling well and I want more, one last real one so badly. I miss ordering the same breakfasts together and you ordering racks of lamb absurdly. I miss driving to your appointments with you and eating mall and hole in the wall Chinese food. I miss the love you had for all things, vector the bee, all animals big and small, most people as long as they weren't as*holes. You made me so proud to have been your papasfritas and your dad. I can hardly wait until we meet again and are eating our country omelettes with extra sour cream and country boy breakfasts together in the next place after this one. And the next place better have a gym because you still owe me a week of working out and I'm going to collect!!!! I love you, I miss you and will never forget you. Dad

To My Best friend,

I will forever remember the dozens of nights you, Autumn and I stayed up until the sun came up playing the Sims. I’ll forever remember just driving listening to our shared playlist and blasting the radio whenever any song from Portals played. I will forever remember just doing everything together. And i will forever cherish those memories. I love you, Xero. I’ll spend forever missing you. Until we meet again, my moon.

To my daughter

Of all the special gifts in life however great or small, to have you as my daughter was the greatest gift of all. May the winds of love blow softly and whisper in your ear “I love and miss you sweet daughter and wish that you were here!" I will never get over this heartbreak and still can’t believe you are gone. I love you so much and can’t wait to see you again! 💜
