Vicki Carol Dunaway
Vicki was born Vicki Pennnington on December 23 1963. She grew up in connersville and had many great memories of girl scouts, attending Fayette Central Elementary, and being a member of Connersville Baptist temple. She had many friends growing up that she stayed in contact with and spoke of often fondly. In January of 1981 she married Chester Gibbs in Georgia. They had 2 children together, Amanda and Chester J.R. known as Buddy, before going their separate ways. On May 9th 1987 she married Roger (R.D.) Dunaway. Through this marriage she gained a daughter Jessi Dunaway. After 13 years of marriage they also went their separate ways. At the time of death she was engaged to Steve Metcalf, after having a few rough relationships after her divorce Steve was a very caring and loving partner and we are so thankful she had him.
Vicki was a huge dog lover. She often said that she was most at peace on her back porch with her dogs by her side.
In March of 2001 she became a grandmother and at the time of death had 3 grandsons Bryce, Trey and Virgil Quinn and step grandson Braxton. She loved them more than anything and being grandma was definitely one of her greatest joys in life. In June of 2024 her 4th grandson will be born.
Vicki loved her parents Virgil a d Ruth very much and even though growing up her brothers Randy and Rick may have drove her crazy she wouldn't have traded them for the world.
Vicki lived such a short life compared to some but she definitely lived it to the fullest. She enjoyed several concerts through the years even meeting several singers and bands. She was even flirted with by Vern Gosden in a Shoneys parking lot in Nashville Tennessee.
Vicki was diagnosed with terminal Uterine cancer in 2018. In 2019 the cancer had disappeared but shortly after it returned. Despite treatment in early February 2020 she was told the Dr's had done all they could do.
On February 15th surrounded by her 3 children and her fiance Vicki took her last breath at 11:55 am. Though we miss her with everything in us we know her pain on earth is gone and we will see her again one day.
