"Her absence is like the sky, spread over everything." - C.S. Lewis
Kolbie Quinn entered this world like a tsunami. 'Though she be but little, she is fierce.'
It is going to be extremely difficult to express the amount of joy and vibrance and love she brought to our lives in the tiny little box but I will try. Words can not do justice to the amazing little girl Kolbie was. Her smile was contagious and her giggles were music. She was tough as nails and didn't fear away from the scary things. Kolbie was born 6 weeks premature via emergency c-section. Upon entering this world, it was discovered she had a very rare and serious anatomical malformation. This resulted in a 3 month stay in the NICU, multiple surgeries, extended hospital stays, tons of tests, tubes, pokes, prods, and anything else you can imagine that comes with medical issues. (See, I told you she came in like a tsunami.) She went through more in her short 3 years that most people go through in their whole life. Her favorite color was blue, like her favorite cartoon character Bluey. Her favorite food was sausage, which she requested her Daddy make her almost every morning. She loved to play with barbies and babies and anything else that her big sister played with because she wanted to be just like her. She couldn't go anywhere without her MooMoo's, which were very specific fleece blankets. She didn't just hold them constantly, no, she would find her favorite corner and suck on it constantly. I remember worrying she would choke sometimes with how far she would push those in her mouth. We don't really know why she called them MooMoo's but the name stuck and heaven forbid if we left this house without at least 1. Putting on makeup and brushing Momma's hair was also one of her favorite things to do. It was something she enjoyed on her last day with us. "Hey google, play lullabies." Was said every night at bedtime so she'd fall right to sleep. Jack Skellington was a favorite and she even had a special skeleton dance when she talked about him. She always asked to listen to 'the mermaid song' (a part of your world from the little mermaid) while her ostomy bag was being changed. We loved to tease her about who was her best buddy (some days Dadda some days Momma and sometimes big sister Bug). Kolbie loved to dance and sing and laugh. She was incredible and I wish I could play an entire movie of her whole life. But we'll have to settle for stories and photos. I hope this helps get a sense of how truly special she is. We miss her dearly and want the world to enjoy her as we have ๐ฉต
