Norena Purcell

Norena Morris Purcell was born and raised in Manchester, KY. She resided in KY, IN, and IL up until her mid 30s when she planted roots in Somerset, KY. She was married to Francis Purcell with whom she shared two daughters, Melissa and Kimberly, in addition to having five children from a previous marriage, Linda, Laura, Ruth, Yvonne, and Lewis. Her children and husband were truly her world. Multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren later, she had built a beautiful family full of love and life. She had a strong faith and loved Jesus. She taught her family that having a relationship with our Lord was the most important thing in life. If you looked at her, you saw a Jesus glow and love about her. She never met a stranger and wouldn’t turn away a stray. She loved to cook for her family and valued holidays and get-togethers where her house was full and loud! She enjoyed bluegrass and gospel music, bird watching, old western movies, and word puzzles in her later years. She loved to talk about her mama and daddy and 6 siblings, stories of living in Hogskin Hollar, times from her working days, and moments with her “one true love” (aka Francis or Papaw).
There would never be enough time or enough space for me to tell you how extraordinary of a person she was. I feel she was an angel on Earth.
But if you are reading this, I hope you know she was loved, she loved you, and she hopes to see you in Heaven someday. 😇
