This year marks the 10th anniversary of our girls passing. Maureen and I expected this to be a most challenging year and in some ways it was but it has also been a time of joyful reflection about Meg. What she taught us and what she continues to teach us. She had an effortless way about her as it relates to lifting others and I believe she continues to do so. The other day while serving in the temple I had a few quiet moments to reflect on our Father’s plan of happiness. If I have learned anything over the past 10 years, it is that His plan is not something that will be fulfilled at some future point, but rather, the promised joy and happiness can and should be felt and experienced now even in times of trial and despair. My girl lead a life of joy, happiness and a fulfillment of God’s plan. She was and continues to be an example to be me for which I will be forever grateful. All my love Pooh.

Meg loved roller coasters (she was weird that way) and everything that went with them. Funnel cakes, corn dogs, and those spiral fried potato things. They were all part of the package. We try to remember and honor her passing and birthday by doing what she would do. We will be going to Lagoon this year to ride rides in your place. Meg just naturally shared happiness and so many have told us that they considered her their best friend and that they were sure they were hers. That list is long. Her mom carries on her tradition of sharing and friendship each year on her birthday by “spreading sunshine” to those who need it. This year she took sunflower cupcakes and delivered to some individuals we know personally but also to some strangers that she felt impressed to lift. That’s how Meg was, she looked for old and new friends to bless and would bring them home in a true spirit of charity.
We had time with Evy and Ash over the last several weeks to spoil and remind them of how much Meg loved them and how important they were to her. At her memorial in Rogers, a good friend spoke and she addressed the kids directly and said that they were her “moon and stars”. Truly they were. Meg reveled in her children. Didn’t live through them but with them. Her life was full before Evy and Ash, but then it grew dramatically with each of their arrivals. How grateful Maureen and I are to share in the opportunity of keeping her memory alive and remind them both of their place in her heart both past and present.

Sitting on your memorial remembering the holiday with you and your sisters throughout the years and so grateful for who you are and the legacy you have left for your little family and the rest of us. On your marker I placed a small sign that reads, “Love you to the Moon and Back”, a favorite from when you were small. I still love you to the
moon and back and now all the way to heaven.
