“Carry on, my wayward son, There'll be peace when you are done, Lay your weary head to rest, Don't you cry no more.”
Matthew F. Lazenby, 62, of Erie passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at the Cleveland Clinic surrounded by his family.
He was born in Erie on February 19, 1960, a son of the late, Lawrence Jr. and Marilyn (Meyers) Lazenby.
Matthew graduated from McDowell High School in 1978 and competed in swimming during those years. He then attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he met the love of his life Tracie. Matt began working for the family business and became owner and operator for Loc Incorporated up until 2014. Matt dedicated 30 years of his life to the family business. Afterwards, he continued working as a construction estimator for various companies.
In 2016, Matt fought and overcame a serious health battle, which led to a liver and kidney transplant. Matt loved playing and watching golf, he also was a die hard Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins fan. He was a member of the Kahkwa Club, and former member of the Erie Maennerchor Club, where he spent many years playing duckpin bowling. Matt enjoyed cooking delicious meals for family and friends. He was the McDowell Aquatics Booster President for many years and enjoyed the friends made during that time. He especially loved his water polo family and the many long nights spent with them. Most of all, Matt loved being a Papa to his grandchildren and they loved him. He had the biggest heart and will be missed by many.
