find lovey mama. 💔
at the rainbow bridge. we lost her today. it has been so hard but knowing she was also tied to you and daddy…makes it even worse. we miss you so, kiss her little head for us.
hard week.
hard week mama. all things “hard” make me miss you even more. I miss your listening ear…I miss the “knowing” weight of your hand as it rested on top of mine. it’s hard down here. and getting worse every day. I try to be encouraged but oh my, my soul is sad and weary. In my mind, I revisit the words and prayers you poured into and over my life…I feel the absence of that now more than ever. I miss you so much. -littlest apple

8 years since you left. august 4. strange to write that when it still feels so new to not have you here. yesterday was a day. you & daddy would have been my first call and you would’ve dropped what you were doing and come…even though i was fine. a man plowed into our front yard in his truck and our largest crepe stopped the vehicle from making it to the house. could’ve been so much worse but the elder gentleman and his dog were unhurt. the truck was destroyed so i really feel like there was a bit of a miracle in our front yard. after all the emergency vehicles left and only shattered parts of his truck, a destroyed power pole and speed limit sign were removed, i walked over to my sweet crepe myrtle. laid my hand on her scars and assessed the damage. amazed that she held firm, protecting. and i thought of you and daddy. my feet stood on her roots at the surface of her base…deep, firm, holding steady in the storm…protecting. the legacy you both left for me, for us. right there, so apparent, under my feet and against my palm. oh. how i long to call and hear your voice, feel your hand in mine, sit in your presence and be.
happy birthdays mama.
celebrating you in my heart more the next couple of days than usual. what a gift you were to me, troy and brandon. the perfect example of pure unconditional love in every aspect of our lives. i feel your absence so profoundly but smile and cherish every sweet memory. i carry you in my heart. so grateful to be yours.
candlelight Christmas memorial
2024. another year to remember you. you were the best mama. ever. your birhdays are coming up, added a little lighted tree just for you. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Thanksgiving morning.
strange to be doing Thanksgiving cooking by myself. trying to remember all the things that mama did to make it perfect, every single year. perfect food, perfect timing in the midst of the sheer craziness of family. oh, how i miss those days. things are very different for me now, quieter. and i’m really not a fan. trying to embrace brandon with christina home while navigating all these feelings. yesterday, i listened to all the voicemails from my precious two, the daily nothing special calls. feeling fortunate and also like i’m failing them in holding things together. family, feels so disconnected and my heart longs for the very familiar. my people. the thanksgiving table in heaven grows by the year…fewer here, more there. missing you mama & daddy, every second of every day.
remembering Christmas.
capturing the little annual Christmas things. decorating, mama making bows, live nativity at church complete with hot chocolate and cozy blankets, Cowan Christmas parade shared with family and friends (followed by taco soup for lunch and lots of hot cocoa), mama’s famous peanut brittle (best in the world), and family.
