Wilma Jean Thackery

Wilma J. Thackery, 63 of Summitville formerly of Greensburg, passed away on August 19, 2006 at the St. John’s Hospital in Anderson, Indiana.

She was born on July 26, 1943 in Letcher County, Kentucky and was the daughter of Noah and Zola (Tyree) Cornett. She married Bill Sexton on December 23, 1961 in Letcher County, Kentucky. She worked at GECOM in Greensburg and was a member of the Church of God in Greensburg.

She is survived by one daughter, Lisa Rushing of Summitville, Ind.; five sons, Dwayne Sexton of Greensburg, Ind., Danny Sexton of Greensburg, Ind., Mike Sexton of Greensburg, Ind., Billy Sexton of Columbus, Ind., and Noah Sexton of Greensburg, Ind.; three sisters, Marie Thackery of Batesville, Ind., Judy Sexton of Whitesburg, Ky. and Verna Banks of Whitesburg, Ky.; two brothers, Vanus Cornett of Dupont, Ind. and Chris Cornett of Whitesburg, Ky.; sixteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Noah and Zola (Tyree) Cornett; husband, Bill Sexton; one sister, Lois Thomas and one brother, Vinson Cornett.

Friends may call the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home on Monday, August 21 from 4 - 8 p.m. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, August 22 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Perry Fouts officiating. Burial will follow in the Dupont Cemetery in Dupont, Indiana.
