James Robert Hoffman of Oshkosh , WI passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on August 6, 2023.
The only son of Vernon & Christine (Trepanier) Hoffman, he was born on May 5, 1947 in Appleton, Wisconsin. On August 16, 1970, Jim Hoffman was born again and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour.
He graduated from Appleton West high school in 1965 and joined the US Navy in 1966. He married Monica Cleveland on April 29, 1967. The Navy sent Jim to the Mekong Delta and rivers of Vietnam in 1968 where he served in combat on Swiftboats. After returning to Wisconsin he worked as a commercial printer for Milprint in DePere, WI. On July 30, 1977, Jim and Monica surrendered their lives for full-time ministry and went on the missionary trip to Mexico and that changed the course of their life. Jim quit commercial printing and used his printing talent to produce millions of copies of the Bible and for distribution around the World in addition to leading many youth groups and individuals on missionary trips. In 1979, the Hoffmans came to Wyldewood Baptist Church where they continued to serve as Director of the Bearing Precious Seed and Scandanavians for Christ ministries. Jim and Monica celebrated 45 years in full-time ministry together in 2023.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Vernon H. Hoffman of Appleton , WI and Christine M. Anders of Green Bay, WI, parent-in-laws Elton and Betty Cleveland of Oconto Falls , WI; sisters Sharon Yacoub of Green Bay, WI, Jacqueline Michaletz of Crivitz, WI; and brothers-in-law George Cleveland of Suamico, WI. and Robert Gegare of Green Bay WI.
Jim is survived by his wife, Monica and children: Michael (Heidi) Hoffman of Kenosha, WI; Kimberly (Rick) Brown of Zion, IL; Daniel (Angela) Hoffman of Ripon, WI and Benjamin (Rebecca) Hoffman of Marshfield, WI, grandchildren; Evan Brown, Elizabeth, Megan and Jacob Hoffman, Richard (Shelby) Brown, Carrie (Daniel) Williams, Katelynn (Joseph) Payton, Amy, James and Jonathan Brown, Justin Daniels, Karlissa, Noah and Lucas Hoffman. He is further survived by; twelve great-grandchildren; step-father David Anders of Green Bay, WI and sisters Beverly (James) Roberts of Appleton, WI and Diana Vankauwenberg of Green Bay, WI; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ed Yacoub of Skokie, IL; Jim (Pamela) Cleveland of Lady Lake, FL; Mary Jo (Dennis) Wennesheimer of Howard, WI; Richard (Judy) Cleveland of Suamico, WI; Tim Michaletz of Oconto, WI. and many nieces and nephews.
