Rasmina Jane Samuelson
"Yesterday was pretty rough, but today is much better." - Rasmina
Early Life: Rasmina was born on April 15, 1917, in El Centro, California; the first-born child of Anton B. & Fannie May Samuelson. Three weeks after she was born, the little family moved to San Diego, where Rasmina spent most of her growing up years. She was named after her father’s mother as was the Norwegian custom. Her middle name is the same as her maternal grandmother. Rasmina did well in school, skipping second grade and graduating early from San Diego High School. At a very young age, Rasmina learned to do hand work: knitting, crocheting, embroidery. She often said she was born with a needle in her hand. When she entered kindergarten, piano lessons were started and continued until she was 19 years old. At age 10, Rasmina played the music for Sunday School and by age 12, she was the branch organist.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: After attending one semester at San Diego State University and working for a while, Rasmina was called to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Eastern States Mission. She was able to participate in the first Palmyra Pageant at the Hill Cumorah. The day she returned from her mission, Joseph Price asked for a date and soon asked to marry her. They were sealed in the Mesa Arizona Temple. Joe and Rasmina had six children. They were later divorced. After moving to Idaho, Rasmina was introduced to Milton Beck from Sacramento, California. They married and together, they served missions to India, Australia and England. Milton died in 2007 at the age of 93. In addition to her family and faith, her interests included needlepoint, family history, music and travel. Rasmina Jane Samuelson Price Beck passed away Sunday evening, December 28, 2014. She was 97.
