Happy Heavenly Birthday!!
❤️
As the second Mother’s Day without you approaches, I've been thinking of ways to honor your memory. During my search, I stumbled upon a great website called Turning Hearts Medallion. I created a heartfelt Medallion page and bio, complete with a QR code link. Now, our family and friends can scan it to reminisce about you and share their favorite memories, whether visiting you or afar. Mom, your spirit is always within me, deep in my heart. I think of you every day and miss you more than words can say. Please watch over and guide me until we are together again.
Love, your daughter, Tina Marie ❤️
Dolly H. Hernandez was born on October 13, 1941, in New York, NY, to Rafael and Blanche Rodriguez. Although Dolly spent her childhood years in New York, the family ultimately made the trek to the West Coast, where they called the San Francisco Bay Area home.
Dolly was a loving wife to Manuel Hernandez for over 50 years and a proud mother to eight children and grandmother to four grandchildren. Despite her already large family, she opened her heart and home to hundreds of foster children for over 25 years in Union City, CA, where she resided.
After residing in Union City for 47 years, Dolly chose to relocate to Tracy, CA, drawn by the proximity to her family, many of whom had already settled there. She cherished the moments spent with her children and grandchildren, enjoying the closeness they now shared. The smaller community and its warmer climate added to her joy of being there. Plus, she finally fulfilled her dream of owning a two-story house with the primary bedroom on the second level. Even if it meant needing a motorized chair, it didn’t matter to her one bit. And together with her daughter they designed and built a swimming pool for the family to enjoy.
Dolly's pleasures were as varied as they were simple. She found delight in the buzz of the slot machines, often making spontaneous trips with Manuel to the Indian Casinos, always on the lookout for her favorite machines. With her knack for luck, she often came out ahead, gathering her winnings before heading back home.
Beyond her adventures at the casinos, Dolly held a fondness for going to the movies with her family. The magic of a good movie transported her, and she enjoyed every moment spent in the cozy, comfy reclining chair of a dimly lit theater, complete with a large bucket of popcorn, a large Pepsi (and not Diet it had to be regular), and a box of Dots or Red Vines in hand.
Dolly also had a green thumb and loved caring for her many houseplants, often giving them out to friends and family as gifts. Her nurturing touch transformed her home into a lush sanctuary, where greenery flourished under her care.
When she wasn't tending to her plants, you'd often find her cozied up in her favorite black leather chair and table, watching her favorite telenovelas. Surrounding her were stacks of adult coloring books and an impressive collection of coloring pens. With meticulous care, she'd lose herself for hours in the intricate designs. And upon completing a masterpiece, she might add a final touch of elegance, signing or dating it with the beautiful penmanship she was known for—a trait, unfortunately, not passed down to her children.
But perhaps above all, Dolly's heart belonged to miniature dachshunds. She adored them so much that she became an affectionate breeder, turning her home into a haven filled with fur babies. Just imagine a houseful brimming with the playful antics of mini wiener dogs—that was Dolly's home.
Dolly leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory. She is survived by her husband, Manuel Hernandez, and their children: Daniel, Tina Marie, Richard, Lisa, Manuel Jr., Dolly (affectionately known as Nena), and Meredith. Her daughter Yolanda, who preceded her in death, remains a cherished part of the family legacy. In addition to her children, Dolly leaves behind precious grandchildren: Jessica, Yazmin, Remyna, and Miles, who will continue to carry her love forward in their lives.
Though she has passed on, Dolly's legacy lives on through the hearts of those she held dear.
We design every page from Dolly’s 94 photos. Make it yours, then order a copy for everyone who loved Dolly.

Love
This is the woman whom I admire and love with all my heart and she will be so very missed 💗 I miss her phone calls and her amazing advice and the way she never judged any of my life choices. Her voice at the other end of the phone is what I will miss the most. I'm forever grateful for her and her entire family for opening the home for foster kids like me, I didn't know love until that day I was dropped off their home at only 13.. My eyes and heart opened up for the first time and I learned everything I know about love and support by each of the family and it has made me an amazing Mom, and Nana..I'm so blessed..Thank you so much for letting me share in all of your life's..
