I'm the Music Man! A Dog! When I think of some of the things you used to say and do, always makes me smile. You always said what was on your mind, no holding back. No one ever had to guess what you was thinking. A loving son. A loyal friend. Around 4, I was making wreaths with Aunt Mel (Karmell)you wanted your boots on so you could go outside. Do you think you would be patient? No, not you, it had to be now. I placed you up on the bench, put your boots on, Aunt Mel was looking at you, I guess. You looked at her and said "Stop 'docking' at me! All you do is 'Dock, Dock, Dock!' Karmell and I looked at each other and starting laughing. Round 5, You collected a small cup of dandelions, just flower, no stems. You came into the house, opened the refrigerator, cleaned everything out of the crisper and placed your cup of flowers in the back, then put everything else back. I asked, "Alfred what are you doing?" You Replied, "I picked these flowers for you, Mom, but I have to hid them or Nanny Elkie (Elise) will eat them!" I told you, we can place them in the window," and you said "No, Nanny will eat them. I said, "No she won't." You said," Yes she will momma, she ate all of them that were around her house last night! I helped her dig them up." She loves them!" They stayed in the refrigerator for months! Sometimes you would get up in the morning so grumpy. I used to tell you, "Maybe you should go back to bed and get up on the right side of the bed, instead of the wrong side?" You looked at me, went into the bathroom, then came right back out with your hands on your hips, looked at me and said, " Momma, why do you keep saying that?" I get out of bed on the same side every day' cause my bed is against the wall! "While I was explaining that it's just a expression meaning you are grumpy. You moved your bed to the other side of the room. I walked away giggling to myself. Remember the night I came home and could of broken my neck? I took my shoes off at the door, took one step on to the floor and slide the rest of the way on my butt. I said, " Alfred what is on this floor?" What did you say? " Oh, I just sprayed some lemon smelling stuff around because the kitchen smelled and we didn't want you to have to smell it." I had to slide on my butt until I got to the rug, so I could get back on my feet. It was like a skating rink! I said, " Show me what you sprayed around." When he grab the can, I shook my head and said, " No wonder, Alfred, this is Pledge for dusting, not smells." You Always wanting the last word, said," Well it smells like lemon to me." It took days to wear off. I asked, "Were you and Roger smoking?" you said," No!" But I knew better. How about when, you, Jason, Josh, and I went to Ellsworth for breakfast at Denny's? You said," Mom, why are you swearing so much?" I said, "I Am? I'm sorry, I didn't realize I was." For starters I was surprise you were correcting me on swearing. we all started laughing. The waitress took our order and brought back our drinks. I noticed there was no creamer for my coffee. I said, 'What the frig!". You looked at Josh and Jason and said, "See what I Mean?" She said that word all the way to Ellsworth. I'm riding home with you guys, if mom going to keep swearing. We looked at each other and busted out laughing. We had tears running down our face. Josh said, Really Alfred?" Alfred said, " Ya, why is Mom swearing so much? Its' just not right!" Jason and I couldn't even look at each other without busting out laughing. Josh couldn't look at any of us without laughing. Alfred was laughing but still wanted to know why I was swearing? Too Funny I started saying Fudge! He didn't like that either. Alfred you made me laugh some days; some days you got on my last nerve. my famous statement to you was "Let's get through this today, put this issue behind us, and start off fresh tomorrow. I Love You, Past is the past." Alfred you are my son and I wanted you to be happy no matter what I had to do. I'm so proud to be your Mom. No matter where or when we see each other you'd always give me a hug, a kiss, and tell me you love me. It didn't matter if friends or family was around. You made me feel loved. I'm so glad all 3 of my sons tell me they love me-I need to hear that. Roger Hardy's Service, I was so proud of you when you jumped up out of your chair. I was frightened at first, not knowing what you were doing. I asked, " Alfred where are you going?" You never said a word. You walked up front, took a hat off a person's head and placed in their lap, shook that persons hand, walked off and continued to do so to everyone wearing a hat. Some people followed through, some you had to approach. You came back to your chair, stood scanning the room, sat down in your chair, looked at me and said, " Roger deserves everyone's respect and I'm making sure of it." I was so Proud. I said, " That's my son, my son." I knew in my heart that you was a Wonderful, Loving, Caring person and that day everyone got to see that side of you. You always acted like you was so tough, but the real you was so loving. Your feeling got hurt very easily. You was a loyal friend. A Loving son. I love you so much Alfred, so much. Alfre, you will always be my baby boy. I will think of you every day. I will hold your memories close to my heart. I'll keep your memory alive. Tell Roger I said hi and he is also dearly missed. I'm sure you both are rapping, playing video games, playing basketball, listening to music, or writing songs. I can see you both with those big smiles. You guys have fun, I'm here if you need me. I love you Alfred, I love you with all my heart, I always will. I will watch over your brothers and they will take care of me. We will never forget you NEVER! see you in my Dreams.

Alfred's Remember Me Poem

Remember me when flowers bloom early in the spring.

Remember me on sunny days in the fun that summer brings.

Remember me in the fall as you walk through the leaves of gold and the winter time remember me in the stories I told.

But most of all remember each day right from the start I will be forever near for I live within your heart.
