Mary Lou Ooley-Shogren
"I make my own good time"
MARY LOU SHOGREN
Poem by her grandkids: Kelly, Kristi, Ashley & Zack
Gather around, let me share a tale,
Of Mary Lou Shogren, whose cackle never failed.
Sweethearts from Shortridge, a love for the ages,
Mary Lou and Denny, flipping life's pages.
Sixty-three years, side by side they stood,
Raising two sons, John and Mike matured.
Grandkids soon followed, 3 girls and 1 boy.
Grandma Shogs remained close in Illinois.
"I love you more than you love me,"
Her grandkids so spoiled, to the nth degree.
Posts on fine dining, she’d share on Facebook,
"Don’t taste your dinner” till we all get a look.
At gatherings, she'd sparkle, the life of the party,
With Kim Crawford in hand, her spirit so hearty
A social butterfly, with a knack for creative gifts,
Her presence so known, a tangible shift.
Genealogy, palm readings, & theatrical stages,
These hobbies go down in many places.
"I make my own good time," she proudly declared,
Spreading joy and laughter, everywhere.
On Ocean Drive in Juno Beach, with views so bright,
Mary Lou lived, in her world of white.
To those who knew her, Denny’s little girl,
She dressed to impress, nails painted like pearls.
Surrounded by love, Papa Bear and his Boo,
She lived life fully, their bond like glue.
Mary Lou Shogren, her legacy bold,
In our hearts forever, her stories told.
