Freida Jane Smith
A mother, sister, friend, and mamaw that is loved and missed so deeply.
Mamaw! To know her was to love her… even on her sassy days.
She was one of 13 siblings and while she didn’t live exactly close to them, she loved every chance she got to spend time with them; nothing perked her up more than to spend the week “in the country” with them, or vice versa. They were her best friends.
She was a mother to three boys... Kevin, Keith and Brian (cue the reasons she was sometimes sassy). She loved her boys with her entire being and up until her last breath she worried about them, always wanting them to be successful and happy.
Her very best job in my opinion, was being a mamaw. There were 5 of us. We all have so many childhood memories that took place on Elk River drive, I couldn’t even begin to scratch the surface… but I can tell you we never left hungry! Cooking for her family was part of her love language, bonus that it was actually good!
By the time she left us, she was a great grandmother to 7 wild ones. Visits from those 7 made her heart just as happy as could be. She soaked up every minute she could with them; they truly were her biggest joy.
There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about her. She was so ingrained into our lives, it’s hard not to. I thank you for taking the time to read about our precious mamaw, and hope my words convey how truly special she was to us all.
