Darlene served in the armed forces. We honor that service here.
Life story
Frank B. Corral Sr. and Darlene “Wally” D. Corral were happily married for 46 years on August 5, 1956. They were both pillars of the community working and volunteering their time. They raised their family in Hanford, CA. Flora, Frank Jr and Felicia Corral. They were overjoyed when they became grandparents to Leticia, Santiago Jr. Corona, Alexandra, Courtney, Wesley, and Frank III Corral.
Frank enlisted in the Army and served for two years. He worked at Lemoore Naval Air Station as a civil service spanning 34 years. Frank’s service didn’t stop there, he dedicated the majority of his life as a giver of his time and energy. Frank felt it was important to lead by example and was a leader in almost every organization he became a part of. Frank volunteered with the Hanford Boy Scouts, American Little League, Hanford Baby Ruth local and with the district, Hanford High School Athletic boosters, Kings County 4-H, Kings County YMCA, Indian Guides and Maidens, Hanford Knights of Columbus 4th Degree and Junior Squires, St Rose/Thomas McCarthy School Parents Club, St. Brigid Catholic Church Advisory Council, and St. Vincent DePaul Society. After he retired from LNAS Frank found more time, expanded his adventures, and served on numerous county agencies. Beginning with the Kings County Grand Jury, Kings County Commission on Aging, and the City of Hanford Tree Commission.
As a young girl, Wally played softball with the Hanford Queens and was a member of the Hanford Girl Scout Troop #5. She became an active member of the St. Brigid Alter Society, and Young Ladies Institute, and a 45-year member of the St. Francis of Assissi Court of the Catholic Daughters of America. Most of her free time was spent sharing life skills with various adolescent groups including Hanford Bobby Socks, Kings County 4-H, and Hanford youth sports. She was on the ground floor of St. Vincent DePaul Society, and St. Rose McCarthy Library.
Frank and Wally liked spending time during the holidays planning and preparing for the Kings County Christmas Parade and Kings County Homecoming festivals. Frank and Wally enjoyed their time with family, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, godkids, cousins, and lifelong friends. Wally enjoyed watching her grandkids grow into young adults and build their lives with marriages and kids. Precious time holding all the great-grandkids and watching her children become grandparents. Frank and Wally were proud recipients of a Papal blessing from Our Holy Father John Paul…
After a short battle with cancer, Frank peacefully passed away with his family surrounding him on September 14, 2002. Wally unexpectedly passed on July 18, 2016, surrounded by her family.
