“"To the stars who listen and the dreams that are answered."
Life story
Tiny but mighty, Rhys Alexander Baudoin arrived early at 31 weeks and stole our hearts the moment we met him. He spent twenty-seven magical days with us - days filled with love, light, and the quiet strength of a soul too beautiful for this world.
Thank you, Rhys, for teaching us the beauty in every small moment. We carry you with us, always.
last week rhys and i read just the last few pages of “to kill a mockingbird”, where scout walks boo home, then stands on his porch in front of the window and looks out at the “whole world” from his perspective. rhys, i really don’t think you missed out on much in this world, in the short but beautiful time you had you were able to experience some of the most valuable joys life has to offer, you smiled, and you got to feel the warm embrace of a mother and father who love you.
My son, it’s been 3 years since I first met you; I have thought about you every day since. The way that I felt the moment I saw you, the anticipation, the excitement of you being mine to care for… You were the one that I wasn’t supposed to lose - I thought I’d have you for a lifetime. Now I shall carry only your memory for my lifetime. I promise someday your siblings will carry your name. I promise to always be strong for you, as you were to the very end. You will always be my first born son and I will always love you and always miss you, as I cherish the scars from the missing pieces of my heart I buried with you. As for your future siblings, they too will always remember you and love you, as I will forever and ever.
We brought a few new things to your spot today, bud. A ladybug box with a tiny plant, and a little charm resting on one of the stems, because ladybugs always remind us of you. They show up when we need you most.
There’s also a tiny hedgehog, just quietly keeping watch. Something about it felt right. Soft, gentle, and tucked in like you always were. And your Aunty made you a Sonic costume for Halloween. You never got to wear it, but we brought a little piece of it to you today. It’s full of love, just like everything else we carry for you.
You’re never far. We find you in the soft signs, in the tiny wings of a ladybug, and in the quiet love that never leaves.
Always missing you. Always loving you.
My favorite memory is the time I went and you were enjoying a swab with Mama's milk on it. My favorite video is when Michael was trying to get you to open your mouth to suck on a pacifier. I love you sweet boy and will try to wait patiently until God decides it's time to join you.
