Timothy Allen Huff
"Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game." - Babe Ruth
When thinking back on the life of Timothy Allen Huff, he was truly the ‘G.O.A.T’ in countless ways. He entered this world May 8, 1993 and from that moment forward, he brought so much joy to the lives of all who had the pleasure of meeting him. Timothy was an only child born to Tammy L. Jones and John A. Huff; he loved his parents beyond measure.
When recounting Timothy’s formative years, it’s hard not to think of him without envisioning those golden blonde curls that outlined his big clear green eyes, or the way he walked on his tippy toes as he hustled through the house from one room to the other. His laugh was nothing short of contagious, and that big bright smile of his had a way of always melting your heart. His grin made it almost impossible to tell him no. Timothy would frequently ask you to take him to visit his grandma and grandpa’s house, to join him in a game of Boggle, or to take him for some ice cream. Timothy would often spend weekdays at his grandma and grandpa’s house during the summer while his mom worked. He and his grandma watched, ‘A Nightmare before Christmas’ so many times that he wore that VHS out.
Anyone who knew Timothy knew that family was paramount. He grew up with his cousins in Twelve Mile, Indiana and spent a chunk of his childhood with his cousin, Cullen. Timothy was a son and grandson, but he was also the best cousin and nephew anyone could ask for. Timothy was more like a best friend to his cousins, especially the little ones who idolized him. He lovingly referred to his aunts as ‘aunties’ and he had a way of making all of them feel so special to him. Not only was Timothy family-oriented, but he was a true friend to those who were lucky enough to be in his close circle. His friends could always count on him to have their back; he was loyal. He liked to hang out; he liked people - all of them. Race, creed, color never really mattered to Timothy as he accepted everyone for who they were - he was genuine in that way.
It was no surprise that Timothy was drawn to sports at such a young age since he spent much of his time with his grandpas watching virtually any and all sports. Timothy’s first team sport was T-ball and thus began his love affair with sports. He liked belonging to a team. Throughout his middle and high school years, sports were his central focus. He enjoyed the camaraderie of his teammates and quickly identified as an athlete. Timothy attended Caston Junior/Senior High School where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He developed a passion for baseball and his senior year he was selected by his coaches to the All-Loganland Baseball Team.
After high school and throughout his twenties, Timothy maintained a recreational interest in sports. He enjoyed playing football with friends and he could often be found “hoopin’ it up” at a local park on a nice day or playing a pick-up game at the YMCA. He was an avid race fan, enjoyed watching the Cubs, and he was a devoted Indiana Hoosiers fan.
Timothy’s passing was sudden and unexpected. His love, his mild-manner genuine caring nature, and the pure joy he brought his family and friends will be missed beyond measure. Timothy was truly one-of-a-kind! In addition to his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, Timothy left behind his cat, Lucy, who was his best buddy. Timothy’s legacy is one of love, loyalty, and kindness. He taught those whom he left behind to live a life of acceptance and understanding. His sudden passing serves as a reminder that tomorrow is never promised ~ tell those who you love how much they mean to you, today ~ don’t take time on earth for granted, and always hold your loved ones tight.
