Life story

On December 2nd, 1960, God created one of his most precious gifts, Joseph Allen Leibel, who lived an extraordinary life. Being born the 8th of 10 children, he was very comfortable being surrounded by people. He made friends everywhere he went and never met a stranger. If he did, he brought them home and fed them and sent them off better than he found them! His heart was huge!

Joe loved hard and played hard. He was an outstanding athlete for Leola High School where he graduated. He then played college football, later graduating from Black Hills State University with a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Arts. After college, Joe entered the U.S. Army. He graciously fulfilled his duty to his country from 1986-1990. Being a soldier at heart, Joe continued his work in support of the military and worked abroad in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Italy, Germany, Bosnia, Hungary and Iraq. We met in Italy in 1992 while working for Lockheed Martin. We were able to do much traveling while overseas, which included traveling through Europe, diving the Red Sea and climbing Mount Sinai. Joe's hobbies during that time were weightlifting, bike riding, softball, karate, skiing, experiencing new cultures and meeting new friends. Everyday was an absolute adventure.

In later years, Joe spent time coaching his girls in soccer and basketball. When they played, they knew he would be the loudest cheerleader in the stands. His eldest daughter, Chantell and husband Herman, blessed us with 3 beautiful grandsons. Joe could not have been more proud to watch them swim, master karate and play football! Chips off the old block!

There aren't enough words to describe this amazing man who was larger than life. To his friends, family and especially his girls, Chantell, Shania, Haleigh and Jade, he is a true hero. His three years in Iraq took time away from his family, but we were all so very proud of him for his dedication to our country. He saw many things the average person does not see in a lifetime. A tiny piece of him was left in Iraq with each deployment. We honor him as the true soldier, husband, father, brother, uncle and friend that he was and always will be.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, George Walter Leibel and Ramona Ashton Madison Leibel, his brother-in-law Nicholas John Didier, nephew Jacob Jay Leibel and niece Alexis Ann Roesler.

Joe is survived by his wife, Denise Ramos Leibel , his daughters, Chantell Marie Kriel (husband Herman), Shania Joe, Haleigh Ray and Jade Madison Leibel. He was a proud grandpa to three beautiful grandsons, Brayden Herman, Easton Charles and Kyler Joseph Kriel.

His siblings include Monica Mae Didier (husband Nick), Marice Jan Leibel, Michael George Leibel (wife Lynn), Marlis Jean Evans, Marcy Kay Roesler (husband Dan), Patrick Leo Leibel, Sue Ann Leibel (husband James), Dana Lee Leibel (wife Jackie) Mary Ellen Bainter (husband Kirk).

Joe has a beautiful abundance of nieces and nephews who considered him the "fun" uncle or "funcle". He enjoyed watching them grow from childhood to adulthood and growing their own families. He loved each and everyone of you!

Joe had more friends than anyone I know! I mean TRUE friends. He valued your friendship beyond words. He loved reminiscing about the good old days. Nothing compares to the connection that he had with you, whether you saw each other yesterday or ten years ago. You could just pick up where you left off! That is what friendship is all about!

We know he is watching down on us smiling and free.

We pray for our broken hearts to heal with time. With each passing day we will remember more of the good times instead of the sadness of his passing.

For now, just hug your family tight and never miss an opportunity to say I love you! Time is never promised.

Joe, We will miss you more than Heaven can measure!

May you rest in peace!

With Eternal Love,

Your Family
