Carol Sue Busser - Wife-Mother-Grandmother-Teacher
With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Carol Shima-Busser, devoted wife, mother, teacher, and friend on February 29, 2020, in San Dimas, California.
Carol was born in Arcadia, California, in January 1959, to Dr. George J. and Juanita I. Shima. She attended Alverno High School and earned her MFA in dance from UC Irvine. Her first job after graduation was at the University of Eastern Kentucky where she met her loving husband, Daniel E. Busser. Carol and Dan returned to California where they married and started their family. Carol was the beloved mother of Dean (Megan) Busser and Colleen (Spencer) Reeves. She was the proud grandmother of Sera, Dillon, Mason, and Amelia. Carol is also survived by her brothers Robert J. (Leone) Shima, DDS, Thomas L. (Diane) Shima, MD, John M. (Margaret) Shima, MD, and her sister Mary E. Shima. Carol was predeceased by her parents George and Juanita, and her brother Gary J. Shima, MD.
Carol had a passion for teaching and loved to see her students excel. She produced the yearly theater and musical performances at both Alverno High School and at Bishop Amat High School while she taught there. She was also an active member of her church community at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in San Dimas. Carol loved spending time with her family, she loved animals (especially her cats) and she enjoyed spending time outdoors and working in her yard.
