“Everything you do, do with love! Follow your dreams.” - Lacey Jo Guth
Life story

To know Lacey was to love her. She never met a stranger, whether human or animal!

She was a kind, caring and beautiful mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend to anyone who was lucky enough to be in her flock.

We admired her so much for her ability to follow her dreams, no matter what. She was an inspiration to us all. She didn’t let adversity in her life define her, and she refused to let the seriousness or sadness of anything get her down. When you were with her, you felt as carefree as she lived.

She was a devoted wife to her husband Sean, an incredible mother to her daughter River, the most amazing aunt to her nieces and nephews, and the best dog, cat, goat, horse, chicken, goose, and donkey mom the world will ever know!

She was very close with her parents Linda and Jean-Pierre. She spent nearly every day with them for her entire time on this earth.

She was strong and capable of anything, and the most generous person you could meet. If you spent time at her house, you knew you were going to get fed at least a few meals (just like her goats!).

Her smile would light up a room, and her laugh was infectious. Just being with her would change your day for the better.

She could be found most days out in the sunshine tending to her animals and taking all this world has to offer in - the warmth, the breeze, the smell of wildflowers and grain and grass…and the sweet sounds of all of her animals enjoying the day with her.

She is deeply missed by all who knew her. Lacey, we love you so much.

May your light shine the way for us as you help us navigate this world without you, and may we be together again in your ranch in heaven.

How are you connected to Lacey?

She was determined

My husband works with Sean and I only met Lacey in person a few times. What I knew was her love and determination were impressive and inspiring. When her unexpected health journey started I urged both Sean and Lacey to connect with me. My background is nursing but at the time she needed help understanding and navigating the “health noise”/advice, we stayed in touch often. At the time, I was navigating a health and wellness start up company and with my own health journey, over the last 20+ years, had done a lot of research into alternative/functional wellness therapies. I knew (because of research) what options would be worth the investment and what was “snake oil”. I am so glad to have gotten to know her and truly think we could have been very close friends! I loved her optimism and inner spirit. She never complained, was never bitter, and she always chose to fight cancer. One conversation stuck with me that I wanted to share: I highly recommend IV Vitamin C/high doses, Ozone therapy, several others, and cold plunge/ice bath therapy. Anyone who has not tried ice cold showers or ice cold baths…may not appreciate this story as much. Ice baths have been around for a very long time but following actually research there comes a point where it is healthy or just mind over matter (ie like the people doing it in Alaska…after a certain time the benefits are done and then you are just mentally challenging how long you can withstand the icy pain). I talked with Lacey, sent her some links, and about 2 days later she called and we talked for a few hours. I explained the cellular health benefits and how to more cost effective do at home vs spa $$$$$ experience. She had already tried the cold shower training trick (end of shower turn the water ice cold over chest for as long as you can stand it to help build up to the ice bath) and think she just needed to understand the “why would I do this” to myself natural thought process. I remember telling her it would be worth the health benefits and I highly recommended. Then we went over how to baby step to full ice bath immersion in one of her farm troughs. I encourage her to hang a picture or think of River every time she wanted to get out or stop the ice cold pain! The very next day, Lacey texted me: “I made it through a 5 min ice bath and it actually felt amazing after. It felt really great and I’m going to do it everyday. After the initial shock I think my body was like whelp this is it and calmed down 🤣🤣🤣. Thank you so much for your help!” I immediately sent her a funny meme awarding her with the “Fastest to full immersion”in cold plunge history ! 🥇 Lacey was determined to do anything and everything she could to get 1 more day, 1 more hour, 1 more minute on this Earth with those she loved fiercely while enjoying every second! Her will and love of life were inspiring!

For Lacey

I spent a lot of time at Holly & Lacey's house during high school. While I was mainly there to hang out with Holly, Lacey was always a welcomed addition to the group. She was funny, silly, and had the biggest smile. Like her sister, Lacey would usually crack herself up while trying to tell a funny story and soon we would all be in a fit of laughter. Even 20 years later, I can still hear her laugh. Her room was across from the bonus room and I only saw the door open a few times. I think she might have invited me in once. The only thing I can remember about it was that it looked like a pet store! It was kind of dark with lots of cages sitting around. I have no idea what was in all those, but I also didn't really want to find out! She kept her door closed most of the time and that was fine by me! The only two animals that were allowed to roam were a fluffly white cat named Pookie (who was often the punchline to a particular neighbor's jokes...especially when it was time for her haircut) and an old chihuahua, who I think was named Trixie (again, 20 years ago). As many people do after high school, we drifted apart, but in July of 2023 I ran into Lacey at, of all places, our children's dentist office. Even after not seeing her for many, many years I recognized her laugh immediately while she was chatting with the receptionist with her back to me. As I followed my children back, I paused to say "Hello" to her and she introduced me to her beautiful little girl, River. River had a loose tooth because she got knocked over by their big dog, which didn't surprise me in the least. Lacey had not changed a bit since we were teenagers! As I left, I asked her to pass along a "Happy 40th Birthday!" to her sister. I was so glad to have been able to speak with her one last time. Lacey was one of the lucky ones who discovered a passion in her young life: her love of animals. When I heard she wanted her ashes spread in her favorite pasture, I couldn't think of a more appropriate place. It reminded me of this photo I took of her in 2000 during our school's homecoming week in none other than cow print pajamas!

In your favorite place

Memories of Lacey usually involved a critter, like when in junior high school you researched how to best take care of your Beta fish, bring injured birds back to life in a shoe box, later in high school make homemade diet food with green beans for plump doggie Lawerence. It was so impressive to see how you could make things happen and enjoy each moment with those you loved. You’re a beautiful, giving soul who accepted those around you as they are. Your journey was a joy to witness as your critters multiplied, farm expanded and family blossomed and thrived. Love aunt Peaches

For Lacey

I am Tyrel and Holly’s Niece (from Tyrel’s side). This past December of 2023 we got to take a family trip to Opryland before Christmas. I enjoyed spending time with Lacey and getting to see her so happy. You would never have thought she was sick in any way. She gave me some tips on parenting as I will be welcoming my first baby soon, and she shared her love with Walmart and Pioneer women with me. She had told me she bought about 15 packs of pioneer women pillow shams because they were on sale and I died laughing because even she didn’t know what she was going to do with all of them. She also had planned to find my brother a girlfriend as she said she had the perfect match for him. Lacey if you’re seeing this from above PLEASE send her Gavin’s way we need him off our hands LOL. I am glad I got to spend time with her and our family and I cherish those moments even more now. We had lots of laughs and made so many great memories on this trip.

For Lacey…,

Lacey is my niece… on her wedding day, I had the privilege of doing her makeup. I met up with her at her home and she was so relaxed, wearing a flannel shirt and jeans. I brought a bottle of champagne and popped the cork, poured each of us a glass, pulled her hair back in a ponytail and got started. When I put her contour highlighting on her face, she caught a glimpse in the mirror and made me stop so we could take pictures of her making funny faces and grabbed a baseball cap and put it on sideways and crossed her eyes for the camera. We laughed until we cried. We finished off that bottle of champagne while we laughed and chatted and I transformed her into her wedding day ‘look’. She showed me her dress and then mentioned she had not taken it out of the bag or tried it on since it had been altered - this is 3 hours before the wedding!- and even though I was in a full panic, she said ‘awwww I’m not worried- I got jeans and boots if it doesn’t work out’ and started laughing ( after a back and forth, I made her try it on!). She was the opposite of a ‘Bridezilla’ and clearly was just looking to have a fun day with everyone she loved. To me, that summed her up. She loved her ‘tribe’ of friends and family above all else. No one could light up a room like Lacey. I will forever love and miss my precious niece. So blessed to have had her in my life and she will always live on in my heart.
