Life story

Lucie spent her early childhood in New Brunswick with her parents, sister and 2 brothers. Having the ocean beach as a playground was a dream come true for Lucie, as she often recounted the days of scavenging the beach after storms for lobsters, and wading into the ocean for fresh mussels. Although she moved to the prairies at a young age, she continued to be a "crazy lobster lady" and had a true love for the ocean. The move to Saskatchewan was definitely a challenge for the family of 6, but it only brought them closer together. Jokes and laughter were definitely a common occurrence in the household and helped with Lucie's brilliant outlook on life. Lucie faced some difficult obstacles in her young adulthood with the loss of her father Alvin, sister Marilyn and nephew Joel, but even through those tough times she was the glue that held everyone together. Lucie had remained close to her family even with her move to Asquith and it didn't take long for her to make friends their either. She had a special way of making everyone feel welcome and it seemed like she would join every group possible including the Royal purple, Co-op board, town office, splurge group and so on. She wasn't always in the good books though, as it wasn't uncommon to see Lucie working off a rolling stop sign ticket by doing community volunteering.

Lucie had a zest for life and her positive energy was contagious. She always was able to brighten up a room with her smile and laughter. She went out of her way to help those when she saw a need. Having a career as a Home Care Aide was a great fit for Lucie, she loved her vocation and was exceptional at it. With her clients, Lucie was known to go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure the comfort and dignity of her clients. Through the years, she has had many long-term clients that she had developed lasting relationships with and these relationships brought her a great deal of joy.

Above all else, Lucie was devoted to her family. In the words of her daughters, she was the best mother anyone could ever ask for. From as little as putting notes in lunch boxes or doing makeup for dance recitals to taking long road trips in a tiny firefly, she ensured that Chantelle and AnneMarie would have the best childhood memories as possible. Her girls were her proudest achievement in life, especially with seeing the the birth of her first grandchild Dominic, and seeing her daughter AnneMarie graduate from medical school before her passing.

Over the last number of years, Lucie met the new love of her life Jim. Together they brought out the best in one another. Lucie had a way with Jim, an ability to get him out of his comfort zone while still being supportive and a loving wife. She helped him realize that traveling out of Saskatchewan on an airplane was actually worthwhile, as they travelled to the Maritimes to visit her family, as well as took a few hot holidays and enjoyed an Alaskan Cruise.

Lucie would want everyone to focus on what was gained by having known and loved her, not what was lost. Her spirit and love will live through her children, grandchildren and numerous family and friends as they live their lives to the best of their ability and show compassion to others as she had shown onto them. We need to celebrate her life, a life well-lived.
