Under the Orange Tree - Memorial Poem for Doreen Ayre

We’ll think of you beneath the orange tree, where sunlight danced through leaves so free, where laughter lingered in the air, and love was always waiting there. At the local pub when evening fell, you’d stop for a chat, a laugh, a tell, sharing gossip, stories, news of the day, before the country band would play. Now silence hums where music played, but not a note of you will fade, for in each country song and orange tree, you are the memory we still see. So when the orange tree branches swing, or when we hear old Elvis sing, we’ll feel you close, we’ll know it’s true, a piece of all we love is you.
