Christina Girvin, 33, Vale, Oregon, died Monday, June 16, 2003 from a year-long battle with cancer. Christy was born November 13, 1969 in Las Vegas, NY. She graduated from Clark High School in 1987. She spent a year and a half in Connecticut working as a Nanny. She attended Ricks College; Rexburg, ID and graduated in 1990. Christy met her husband Howard W. Girvin Jr. at Ricks and they were married and sealed for time and all eternity, in the Las Vegas Temple on August 18, 1990. She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She did volunteer work with various organizations in the community. She was an accomplished mother and homemaker as well as a devoted wife, partner and friend to her husband. She is survived by her husband Howard; her son Gregory 11; and her daughters Ashley 9, Heidi 7, Melanie 4, Natalie 1; her father Wallace Don Hartman Jr. and step-mother MaryLou Hartman; her mother Roberta Vande Voort and step-father Richard Vande Voort; her brother, David Hartman; and her sisters, Jeanette Carter, Becky Reynolds, Teresa Gehring, Elizabeth Hartman; her grandmother, Dona Pace. She is also survived by her in-laws, Howard and Janet, Valerie Gardner, Shannon, Dana, Jalaine; and grandparents, Rusty and Margueritte. Christy lived her life with love and kindness. She will be missed by all who knew her. A Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 20, at the Vale Second Ward the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Friends may call at Lienkaempers Vale Chapel from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 19, and from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., on Friday, June 20, in the Relief Society Room at the church. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery, Vale.
