Gordon Marshall Wambolt
Come in, your out,
Gordon Marshall Wambolt, known to family and friends as Gordie, was born on October 1, 1937, in Sydney, Nova Scotia. He was the son of George and Mae (Beech) Wambolt, and grew up in a large family with many brothers and sisters.
In his earlier days Gordie worked at Eastern Bakeries, then took up cabinet making and carpentry. He later worked at St. Theresa's Parish Hall until he retired in 1996. In 1959 he married Monica (MacPhee). Together they raised four children and made their life in Sydney, later building a home and settling into retirement in Mull River.
Gordie loved sports all his life. He played baseball in his younger days and later played floor hockey at the hall. He spent countless hours in the country hunting deer and enjoying time with friends. He was an avid baseball fan who liked watching the games, a good country western movie, birdwatching, and playing cards with his music on and a cup of tea. He could often be heard humming or whistling a tune, and he was forever insistent on his 'good singing ability'. His home in Mull River was much loved, and he welcomed everyone into it.
Gordie was 'Grampie' to nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is remembered by his children David, Sherry (Danny) Fogarty, Todd (Brenda) and Lisa (Benny), and by many nieces, nephews and friends.
