Forever in my heart
my dad always told me i wear my heart on my sleeve and now i really do. i will forever miss him but at least i know he will always be this close to me.
Ray was born on March 12, 1975 to Alice Humes and Walter (Spider) Myers III in Riverside, NJ. Five years later, he was adopted and spent the rest of his childhood in Willingboro, NJ. He graduated from Willingboro HS in
1993. The following year, he became a father to his first daughter, Breanna Moné. Two years later, his daughter Anastasia Marie was born. In 2006, Xavier Michael and Amethyst Rai made him a father of four, and in 2015
Noah completed his crew of five. He was a loving grandfather to Alex, Cairo and Hassaun, Breanna's sons.
Ray's children were his anchor and his purpose.
Ray was known for his love of sports and his love for the kids. When he wasn't playing softball with his Westampton Rec team, he was coaching: t-ball, softball, basketball, soccer, football and wrestling. Wednesdays would find him at the bowling alley with his league. If his beloved Eagles were playing, he was watching and usually grilling too!
While Ray was definitely the life of the party, he tended to business also. He founded a catering service called
"Tucker's Touch of Class", served as the PTA president of W.R. James Elementary in Willingboro, and started a softball team with the Burlington County Youth Athletic Association. He was especially proud of his nonprofit Adapt and Overcome, a service organization that provided counseling to adopted children and adults.
In his 30s, Raymond became a member of the Scottish Rite Masons, and went on to serve as the president of Morning Glory Lodge. His service with his Mason lodge was a central part of his life.
Ray had many roles throughout his life, but for the last two years he worked maintenance for the Paulsboro Public Schools.
Ray had an outgoing personality that touched everyone in his circle, which was always expanding because he made friends evervwhere he went. He connected with his birth family, the Myers, and added another group of siblings and cousins to his tribe.
