They say you die twice. Once when you stop breathing, and a second time, a bit later on, when someone says your name for the last time.

Life story

Nick was born Sunday, June 5, 1994 at Huguley Hospital in Fort Worth to Rudy and Jennie. Nick was certainly an adventurous kid. When he was five he decided to run away (to his grandma's house!); he packed a bag of books and got to the end of the street before he gave up because they were so heavy. He loved the outdoors. During his youth he played soccer, a touch of football and golf before joining JROTC. He was a huge theater kid and was in multiple productions during his high school career (see the photo of the nutty professor!)

Nick graduated from Richland High School in May of 2012. While at RHS he was a member of the Armed Drill Team and served as color guard Sergeant Major. He received several ROTC awards including the Non-Commissioned Officer Association medal.

After high school, Nick attended Tarleton State University where he was also a member of the Army ROTC. In December 2013, Nick graduated basic training from Fort Leonard Wood at the top of his class and received the Commanding General's Award for Military Excellence. At the time of his passing, Nick was proudly serving our country as a Combat Engineer in the Texas Army National Guard, 111th Engineer Platoon.

Nick was an outstanding young man. He leaves behind his parents, Rudy and Jeanne Garcia and Todd and Jennie Espy; along with his brothers, Zachariah, Robert, Jacob and Carson; his sisters, Ashley, Heather, and Alex. He loved his Crew with all his soul and lived his life with intensity, integrity, loyalty, and devotion.

Love fiercely.
