Mother’s Day 2025
Mother’s day 2025

For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Karishma Valine Persaud, daughter of the incredible Inderdeo Kay Persaud and Shirley Persaud, proud grand-daughter of the incomparable Sookhia Rosaline Persaud. The following message is on behalf of my family, Kay, Shirley, Steve, Vanessa, Great Grand Chloe and Grandma Pauline.
Grandma, pieces of my heart and soul may have been taken with you, but in its place are memories I have of you. I had the absolute blessing of knowing you for my entire existence of 29 years on this earth, and for that I am eternally grateful. It was not nearly enough time, but I’m glad each year of my life was spent by your side. Cooking all my favorite foods, braiding my hair, knowing pretty much everything about me. Memories are keeping you alive in my heart and your memory will forever live on through me. I may not have had the opportunity to share countless other milestones with you like some other people, getting married or having kids, but I know you’ll always be there with me in spirit. I’m grateful I was able to spend so many holidays and birthdays with you, my parents and I showered you with so much love and admiration. I’ll miss you forever and I truly may never fully recover from this loss, but it was from you I was taught to overcome the seemingly impossible. I am blessed to have been able to be even a small part of taking care of you in your final moments, just as you did for me when I was first put on this earth. I will never be able to repay the debt I owe you, but I know that I can sleep peacefully at night knowing I gave my heart and soul into giving you the farewell you truly deserved. You deserved so much more than the hardships life handed you, but now you can finally rest. This should be a lesson to everyone, give your loved ones the flowers when they can smell and enjoy them, not when they’re gone. It’s pointless. You don’t know the value of a smile, of someone remembering your name, someone recognizing your face, until their ability to do that is gone. That is what this disease had stolen from her, from me. It also stole time. Her smile is what I truly miss the most. But she is finally whole again, no more pain or suffering, resting in the arms of our Lord and Savior. My fight, my passion and my drive comes from her. I am Rosaline’s granddaughter forever and always. Grandma, I will endure a lifetime of missing you, for the privilege of getting to loving you.
