Kevin Lee Strom was born December 12, 1965 in Oakland California to Leland and Joyce Strom. He was the oldest of three, his sister Rebecca Morgan and brother, Brian Strom. Kevin lived in the East Bay Area his entire life. He attended Calvary Lutheran School, and graduated from Arroyo High School in San Lorenzo in 1984. Kevin attended trade school and completed a Sheet Metal Apprenticeship in 1993. He continued working in the field as a Journeyman until his retirement in 2020. In 1987 he married Cynthia Strom. They were married for 23 years and had one daughter together in 1990, Jessica Strom.
Kevin loved the outdoors, especially hiking, golfing, biking, and camping trips with family. He was also passionate about rock music, the Oakland Raiders, the Oakland A’s, puzzles, and his pets. Kevin spent many hours hanging out in his garage watching TV with a beer, and the door was always open. He loved sitting around the fire pit, just chatting away and enjoying the night. He would always ask, “How late can you stay, should I throw another log on?”
Kevin cared deeply for his family. He kept weekly routines with his parents. Classic Burger dinners on Thursday nights, Saturday morning bike rides with his father Lee, and walks around the neighborhood with his mother Joyce. Kevin always enjoyed celebrating the holidays. In 2021, he even won a Village-wide Halloween time house decorating competition.
Kevin unfailingly went out of his way to help others, and support his family. He had a hand in many home projects and was always excited to celebrate accomplishments and milestones for family members. Kevin loved spending time with his friends playing softball, attending sport events, playing poker, and fantasy football. He connected with so many people, it was common for him to run into old friends and co-workers on a frequent basis. Kevin was a season ticket holder for the Oakland Raiders for a time. After his retirement, he regularly enjoyed games at the Coliseum cheering on the Oakland A’s. He even committed the two Oakland teams to tattoos on his arm and leg.
Kevin is missed daily by his family and friends.
