A memory of David
Our Brother David (read at the church service from his siblings) One of five, and stuck in the middle somewhere between all of us, you didn’t just fade into the woodwork, you make sure your presence was known with your quick wit, always with a joke and making us laugh. As a kid you hid your peanut butter sandwich under your chair mat because they were awful, and declared you were done with lunch. Only you could get away with that one! Mom would kill us if we ever tried it. Spaghetti night was your favorite! You loved little league baseball, a rare lefty, who always got on base with a bunt and a phenomenal center fielder. You lived for golf even as a youngster. The crossword puzzles started sometime later and continued on every day throughout your whole life, they were your thing, and boy were you good at these! Dad taught you how to use tools, and fix things, and your industriousness served you well as you did more than the average person fixer upper projects at your house, and your rental properties. Although Dottie might say that 8 years for that master bath was a bit too long! You were the one we could always count on, Mr. Reliable, when adult family stuff just needed to get done, serious stuff, and just other things like when the Cape had a hurricane, and a micro burst headed down the Swan River, giant trees fell in the driveway barely missing the family Cape house, you drove down assessing the property damage, and then made sure it was cleared. When you met Dottie and her adorable dog Chelsea, we knew she was perfect and THE right one for you. You were both glowing in each other’s presence. The day you married 25 years ago was a memorable one for all. Your ‘wicked cool’ uncle vibe influenced a couple of your very young nieces who snuck in the pool by removing their long dresses and putting on T-shirts, not naming names here, Maureen and Lauren. We know you loved Dottie immensely, that she was the love of your life, that you treasured days with her, and that you thoroughly enjoyed the great adventures you had together. Yeah, we’re not telling the story of when you wandered the wrong way or really decided to be on your own tour at the Capital building in Washington D.C. and Security had to redirect you Sir! Your Michelle and Your Jessie were the apple of your eye. You loved them fiercely. You were that Dad, the Dad who didn’t miss anything with band, concerts, or gymnastics meets, or cheerleading. They are strong, beautiful women. You raised them well. Jessie will be graduating in the future with an undergraduate degree and an MBA thorough the accelerated program. Michelle is off to law school this fall, you’ll be watching over them both. Tell our Mom Patty up there in heaven to chill, have a glass of wine, say Hi to Dad from us. Sure going miss you. We love you brother. Janet, Joey, Debbie and Paul Note: 10/23/26 Michelle has graduated from Suffolk Law and passed the Bar Exam. Jess has graduated with both her bachelors and MBA from Bryant University. Both are working full time.
