Madeline “Pat” Mary Altenburg
Grandma, Your kindness and love were so special, And your heart so pure and true. You made the world a better place Just by being you. I miss you Grandma, so dearly. I wish you were here with me. To help to guide me through the years. To be the person I want to be. Words cannot describe the loss I feel. Having to say this last goodbye. Not to have you here with me To wipe the tears from my eyes. But you'll never be forgotten, In my heart you'll always be. And until we meet again, Grandma, I'll keep your memory safe with me.
Born in Honolulu, Hawaii on September 12, 1929 to Cecelia Rosa and Adriano Hernandez, Madeline attended Saint Francis Convent prior to her marriage to Rudolph Altenburg in 1952 in Honolulu. She worked for Saint Francis Hospital while they lived in Hawaii. Madeline was a member of First United Methodist Church. She loved cooking and baking. It was a good day if you were lucky enough to visit when she had made her famous lemon meringue pie! She loved racing, football, and hockey, but her favorite sports were the ones with her grandchildren competing. Madeline loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed it when she had the chance to babysit them.
