Life story

Carlos Hechavarria Sr. was a devoted father, husband, brother, and son, deeply loved and respected by all who had the privilege of knowing him. A man of wisdom, charisma, and unwavering dedication, he touched the lives of many with his warm heart, sharp mind, and infectious enthusiasm for life.

Carlos was blessed with three children and, at the time of his passing, three cherished granddaughters. Since then, his legacy has grown with the arrival of another granddaughter and, finally, a grandson to carry on the family name—a testament to the enduring love and strength of the family he built.

A true pillar of his community, Carlos dedicated many years to the Hialeah Pan American Lions Club, serving as its president and always striving to make a difference in the lives of those in need. His generosity and willingness to help others knew no bounds—whether supporting a friend, mentoring a colleague, or offering a solution to any challenge that came his way.

Carlos had an entrepreneurial spirit and spent years building a successful Amway business alongside his beloved wife, Odalys. Together, they traveled the world, creating memories and experiences that would last a lifetime. His talents extended into public service, where he worked for the City of Hialeah, collaborating closely with the mayor to better his hometown. A natural salesman, he also dedicated years to the healthcare industry, representing one of the largest health carriers and serving as the health representative for the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Carlos had a love for fishing and enjoyed time on the water with his father-in-law, brother-in-law, sons, nephews, and sons-in-law. It was one of his favorite ways to relax and bond with family. He also had a deep passion for baseball—a sport he played in his younger years. His love for the game carried on through his son, Carlos Jr., who followed in his footsteps and played baseball through college.

Carlos also loved to remind everyone of and celebrate his birthday. Over ten years ago, he started the tradition of celebrating in grand fashion by hosting the largest backyard Super Bowl party—an event that quickly became legendary among family and friends. His love for life, laughter, and good company made it an unforgettable experience for all who attended. To honor his memory, his family proudly continues to host this annual event, bringing together the people who loved him to celebrate his life and legacy.

Carlos Hechavarria Sr. lived a life filled with purpose, passion, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community. His legacy of love, leadership, and celebration will continue to inspire generations to come.

Forever in our hearts.
